Before I dive into the details of building my booth, and what has and has not worked there, I would like to take a step back and talk about art shows as a whole, and what you need to get started. The idea is to come out of this post with a good idea of what it would take to start selling photography at art shows, and what needs to be invested before you can make a profit. Here’s my working list for this endeavor. Prints and other stuff to sell: Obviously, you need something to offer your potential customers.
I’ve been told that the big prints are what draw customers in to purchase the smaller items. I don’t do my own printing, but that’s a whole ‘nother post in itself. We are also delighted to announce the winners to the Open, Youth and National Award competitions of this year's Sony World Photography Awards, selected from more than 70,000 entries from across the world. The achievement of each of the winners from across the three competitions is extraordinary - both in terms of the number of photographs they have been chosen from but also that the photographers themselves are not professionals, but individuals who are passionate about photography, enthusiasts and amateurs.
All three competitions were judged on a single shot and prizes range from the latest Sony digital imaging equipment to trips to London to attend the Sony World Photography Awards gala ceremony on 30 April. Pourquoi avoir voulu créer un festival des PŒMs à Paris ? L'offre des festivals en France est très large. Nous ne voulions pas créer simplement un festival de plus... Nous voulions développer un évènement original, inédit. De là est née l'idée de créer Les Nuits Photographiques : premier festival dédié uniquement au Film-Photographique. Il n'existait pas en France de festival dédié à ces pratiques émergentes et bien trop souvent les projections présentées étaient des substituts d'exposition, ou des diaporamas que l'on nappe avec de la musique d'ambiance…Nous voulons pour les Nuits Photographiques de vrais programmes de projections à l'écoute de leur temps.
Notre volonté est de créer un rendez-vous annuel convivial ou créateurs, passionnés, amateurs et diffuseurs peuvent se rencontrer. Que va-t-il se passer pendant cette nuit ?
