How Linkedin's Lousy Sex Appeal Could End Up Killing It

Poor Linkedin. From an operational point of view it's doing everything right: The company's revenues rose 126 percent to $140 million in Q3 2011 and it would have been profitable if not for taxes. Its stock remains at a buoyant $71 or so despite heavy dilution from insider sales and new share issues .
http://mashable.com/2011/10/06/linkedin-company-status-updates/ LinkedIn has long let users follow companies , but Thursday the professional networking service is finally allowing the more than two million businesses with company pages to post status updates to their followers. Company Status Updates will enable assigned administrators of company pages to post updates, up to 500 characters in length, to the "Overview" tab of their pages. "This is a great way to build engagement with customers, potential employees and prospects alike," says Ryan Roslansky, director of product management at LinkedIn. "Nearly half of our members follow over 2 million Company Pages on LinkedIn."

Who are you adding to LinkedIn?

I wouldn’t say I’m a very “popular” person on LinkedIn . With only a few connections made on the platform, I definitely have a ways to go before I hit anywhere near where some of my more established colleagues are. If this was Twitter, their follower count would really set the bar. This, of course, makes me wonder: Am I using the service correctly? http://thenextweb.com/socialmedia/2011/09/02/who-are-you-adding-to-linkedin/
In April, LinkedIn launched new customizable plug-ins, which are features from the professional social network that can be customized and embedded on websites with minimal effort. LinkedIn plug-ins launched with the ability to add Member Profiles, Company Info, and the LinkedIn share button to websites. And today, LinkedIn is rolling out a major plug-in to companies—Apply With LinkedIn. http://techcrunch.com/2011/07/25/linkedin-debuts-embeddable-job-application-tool-for-companies/

LinkedIn Debuts Embeddable Job Application Tool For Companies

LinkedIn will launch a button for employers' websites called "Apply With LinkedIn" that allows job candidates to submit their LinkedIn profiles as resumes, according to a report. Twitter and Google have both launched new buttons this week, and now it seems LinkedIn will also introduce a new way for third-party sites to integrate its services. A "source briefed on the feature" told GigaOm that the new feature, which will be displayed alongside job descriptions on partner sites, will launch later this month.

HOW TO: Optimize Your LinkedIn Profile

With more than 85 million members in more than 200 countries, LinkedIn is a professional social network worth using, understanding and optimizing. After you've covered the basics of setting up your LinkedIn presence, features including recommendations, applications, LinkedIn Answers, and the Resume Builder can add value to your profile. Many of these highly useful features, though, are often overlooked or underused by newcomers.

They click on your Twitter link thinking “Cool, I spend more time there anyway” then they discover your account either has zero tweets or the last time you tweeted was back in late 2009. I’ve seen this with inactive blogs and even websites. Please go back and update or report to the Principals office folks.
