From the initial concept to the final image i had a great professional satisfaction. It was a long personal project where i tried to focus on learning each step of the process. Started with a 3d sketch in Zbrush and then i decided to go ahead with this character focusing on the visual "Disney Pixar" which is what really inspire me. Its a serie of portraits.I have used maya for the base models, Bodypaint/photoshop for the textures and Zbrush for hi-resolution mesh and normal map generation. Render in maya/mental ray. Demo Reel With ZBrush. Generally speaking, there are two ways to land a job in the 3D industry.

You can find work by who you know or you can find it by what you know. (Often times it's a combination of the two that actually seals the deal). Small, focused schools like the DAVE School and CG forums like ZBrush Central provide excellent networking opportunities to help with the former. But when you're blindly sending out copies of your demo reel in hopes of finding work, you'll be judged solely on the latter. For modelers, there are a handful of rules you must follow when putting your reel together. We used Zbrush for the model, of course, and also Polypaint for quite a bit of the texture work. The game version was textured by Pio Ravago and myself. After seeing many post recently where people are asking for a guide to SSS rendering in ZB4, I decided to share my own findings here by uploading the below sheet and my shader + the light I used. those settings are exactly what I used for the renders and final comp you see here.

Since the the new render and sss features of Zb4 where on top of my wish list I dedicated almost 2 full days to doing test renders and now I am pretty pleased with what i found out. I started off with the shadow settings Majid (damn fine artist) kindly posted in the beta tester thread and once I figured the shadow, light and material relations I went further into the whole sss deal.Load the attached lights and shader and have a look at the sheet here which should point you in the right direction to experiment on your own. this guide is by no means complete, but should be a good starting point so you know where the main values to tweak are and what they roughly do, instead of having to guess it all blindly.
