DIY: Friendship Bracelet chevron rug

Well, I can't quite bring myself to get into it after 15 years but I love the bright colors, the patterns, the idea of it....It got me thinking where else I could apply the process and I thought it'd be fun to make a huge friendship bracelet that you could walk on. You know, given my love of all things oversized. I feel melty. EDIT 11/5/2012: We are no longer selling custom crayon pieces in our Etsy shop.

yarn-wrapped hangers - wise craft

I love simple, quick projects like this that take ordinary, household things we use every day and make them more noticeable and interesting. By Haley Pierson-Cox For me, summer in NYC means two things: 1) I will eventually wear a light skirt into the subway when my hands are full, and 2) on that day, when I step onto the stairs of the station, a gust of wind will come barreling up from below, lifting my skirt and showing my backside to anyone who cares to look. This year, on the very first nice day, my skirt flew up not once, but twice.

In the same commute. Straw and pompom garland tutorial. A straw and pompom garland I ordered a bunch of natural straws from the lovely online shop, Imagination Childhood (they call them swedish straws).

I bought them for another project (thursday’s tutorial!) , but I loved working with them so much I wanted to make a simple garland with them too. Obviously this can be done with plastic straws or even some pretty paper straws, if you don’t have any swedish straws lying around. But the natural straws are, well, natural and because of the they are curved slightly and the colors are mottled and the surface uneven, all of which makes them pretty beautiful. Going to Space, BRB

We started with plain black organic cotton t-shirts from American Apparel, in small (for Sym), medium (for me) and large (for Taylor). Sym probably would have been better with an extra small but they didn’t have any in the store but if you buy 3 of the same style you get 15% off. Gotta save that nine dollars! First we brushed and dripped bleach on them. (we put cardboard inside them to stop it from bleeding through to the backs). Galaxy Shirt. Viking shoes. Edited to add: Due to alle the comments regarding the title of this instruction, I've changed the name to 'iron age shoes' which might be more historycally correct.

I learned to make these by using my own foot as a template. Therefore, all the measures given here are highly approximate. If your foot diverges a lot from mine (European size 39, long and narrow/slender), some sewing experience might come in handy. That said, there's no reason to be too specific in making these. As you can see, the 'laces' can be loosened or tightened to fit, and the basic idea is really very simple. Marabou Feather Vest. Corset Tutorial. Cut Out.
