Lundi 7 février 2011 se tenait la première conférence sur la curation en ouverture de la Social Media Week à Paris, avec en trame de fond la question de l’avenir du web. Sommes-nous face à une nouvelle étape de l’évolution d’internet, une nouvelle ère ? Pour répondre à cette question la conférence était organisée en 3 temps : une présentation de Dominique Cardon, sociologue, chercheur au Centre d’Etudes des mouvements sociaux de l’EHESS et au Laboratoire des usages d’Orange Labs ; un panel sur les médias et les journalistes ; un second panel sur la question « Qui est curator » ? Patrice Lamothe de la société Pearltrees, plateforme de curation introduit le sujet en indiquant l’enjeu actuel : les usages sont encore jeunes, et cette conférence doit nous aider à définir un concept à la fois technologique et social. Et la première définition est donnée : la curation c’est une nouvelle étape dans la démocratisation du web grâce à une réappropriation de son organisation par les utilisateurs.
