PERSPECTIVE NUMERIQUE:ReseauxEtReseau

Well, may be the GNU licence is a good reason to go there for people who work in open businesses. by lolole13 Jan 22

Now You Can Turn Your Tweets into Klingon

Yes, that language that was created for Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (and has somehow managed to become something that people actually speak) is now available to all in a Twitter translator. Want to share something with the world that only five people can understand? Tweet in Klingon is for you! OK, it’s easy to make fun of this concept — but pure brilliance of this campaign is that this is all a promotional tool for the Star Trek Online MMOG that hits stores in February. Cryptic Studios worked with Friend2Friend to create the site, which offers English to Klingon translations.

If you’re using your social media profiles to promote your personal brand or business, chances are that pre-made themes and watermarked templates just won’t cut it. You need a custom design to make your profile stand apart from the rest and convey important information about who you are. Some of our favorite social networks afford us this customization, but there are a few tricks that may save you some time and frustration when creating a custom profile background. While none of these can replace the eye of a great graphic designer, they should help you get a sense of the layout you’re after.

The Dalai Lama Officially Joins Twitter

More and more celebrity holdouts are joining the Twitter bandwagon. First Bill Gates started tweeting , then yesterday rapper Lil Wayne joined the service. Today, another famous figure has his own Twitter presence: The Dalai Lama . There has been an @DalaiLama account for some time. In fact, a fake Dalai Lama fooled the media and the twitterverse early last year, which was part of what spurred the creation of verified Twitter accounts . This Dalai Lama is verified by Twitter, though — it is the real deal. http://mashable.com/2010/02/22/dalai-lama-twitter/

Southwest Tweets, Blogs Apology to Kevin Smith

Filmmaker Kevin Smith sent a series of exasperated Tweets this weekend claiming that he’d been kicked off a Southwest Airlines flight for being “too fat”. Proving, perhaps, the speed at which Twitter can spread messages about your brand, the Tweets have been picked up by the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, ABC and other major outlets. The incident, which took place on Saturday, resulted in dozens of Tweets on Smith’s account (he has 1.6 million followers at the time of writing). A brief sampling: Dear @SouthwestAir, I’m on another one of your planes, safely seated & buckled-in again, waiting to be dragged off in front of the normies. (accompanied by a Twitpic , top right)

Twitter appauvrit-il les blogs ? | Presse-Citron

Paris-based Semiocast , which helps brands understand and interact with real-time Web services, has performed a semantic and quantitative study of Twitter based on an analysis of 2.8 million tweets. Turns out roughly half the tweets posted on the micro-sharing service are in English, down 25% from last year, even though the company is based in the U.S. and has more users and momentum in English-speaking countries than anywhere else on the planet. The analysis further showed that the top 5 languages used on Twitter are English, Japanese, Portuguese, Malay and Spanish. Semiocast says the study was conducted on messages gathered over a period of 48 hours, from February 8 to February 10, with the sole aim of determining which languages were most often used on Twitter. The messages were processed with the company’s own analysis tools, which it says can identify the language used in short messages for some 41 languages, including Greek, Hebrew, Chinese, Korean, Tamil, etc. http://techcrunch.com/2010/02/24/twitter-languages/
