Alberto Bustos’ Paperlike Ceramics Imitate Sprouting Blades of Grass. Inspired by forms of vegetation, Spanish artist Alberto Bustos' pieces appear like blades of grass sprouting from the earth, stretching and curling upwards towards an imagined sun.
At first glance the pieces look delicate enough to be paper, layered works that exude a dual sharp and fragile quality. However, after a closer inspection one can see that the works are indeed porcelain, adding another dimension to their soft initial appearance. Bustos lives and work in Spain and his work will be included in Mas De Les Gralles with 40 other international artists on June 13th just outside of Barcelona. A blog about art and visual ingenuity. Wire Wolves Running Down Stairs. Though we just discovered the incredible work of David Oliveira a few weeks ago, I felt compelled to put up another post after seeing his latest pieces.
Currently showing at Galeria 111 in Portugal (until July 31) are some of Oliveria's amazing suspended wire sculptures including a pack of wild wolves that look as if they're running down a flight of stairs. Oliveira uses invisible filament to create the illusion that his pieces are floating or, in this case, moving. Oliveira tells us that the motivation behind the installation was "the space. " "Round stairs are great to work with. Besides offering a view from under and above, it's a very dynamic and energetic space," he says.
