The results reflect the native Cycladic architectural style while incorporating a modern, luxurious feel. Low-budget and low-tech, the new interiors were constructed by local builders using traditional methods. KLab created a sleek version of the island’s famed architecture with its curved, whitewashed surface and irregularly-shaped openings. Furniture seems to grow organically out of the walls, while decoration is limited to natural elements like pebbles set into plaster. Bamboo screens filter harsh sunlight, while concealed lighting adds to the sculptural effect. Photos courtesy Nikos Vandoros & Akis Paraskevopoulos. Armani Hotels&Resorts.

Archwell. Video: The ABCs of Architects - An Exploration of Architectural Design. Real Estate Company in Belgrade, Serbia. Offices. We have yet to experience anything even closely equal to our incredible six days at Castello di Reschio in Umbria.

Offices

So it should not have come as a surprise to us that their office building would turn out to be stunning as well. But it just feels somehow unfair that some people really do get to call this restored 1940s tobacco processing factory as their everyday office. Late last summer, Count Benedikt Bolza, the talented managing director and chief architect of the Castello di Reschio estate, and his team finished the restoration of the estate’s tobacco factory building so that the estate offices, design studio, workshops and exhibitions could move in. Heritage and history are exquisitely balanced with contemporary style and cool elegance, yet the space does not feel pretentious or contrived. It feels completely natural; there is a sense of ease, as if it had always been like this. Part of the reason for this is that Bolza left several key elements of the industrial building intact. The Cool Hunter - Welcome. Kids. In 2011, we wrote about the newly opened Shanghai Museum of Glass (SHMOG) designed by Coordination Asia’s founder and CEO, Tilman Thürmer.

Kids

More recently, Thürmer’s team completed the Kids’ Museum of Glass located in the same Shanghai-based complex and opened a few days ago. Cool and edgy, quite literally, the Kids’ Museum has none of the typical cute and cuddly kiddie features found in spaces dedicated to children. Instead, the target audience, kids aged 4-10, enter an environment of glass, particle board and metal realized in a color scheme of black and white sparsely livened up with lemon yellow, saturated pink and cool blue.

The museum is designed to teach kids the basics of glass in a playful and fun way. The Rise of The Designer Bakery. Is there anything more basic, homey and familiar than a loaf of great bread?

The Rise of The Designer Bakery

Yet it has become a luxury. More and more of us are sick of (literally and figuratively) the white, never-to-stale sliced bread in its never-to-biodegrade plastic bag. We crave for fresh artisanal breads, natural ingredients, heritage grains, organic everything. Those who value great-tasting, healthy bread will pay for quality. And with that quality and premium price comes the notion of design. Hominess and hearty fare are great, but does the environment have to look so “homey,” too? Our fans and followers helped us track down a few examples that meet the requirements at least visually.

Ten games that make you think about life. At the start of this year, we decided to come up with a list of Flash casual games with a philosophical bent.

Ten games that make you think about life

To be honest, we struggled. After days of research, we could only find a handful of games that had the thought-provoking depth we were looking for. Our list (which you can view by clicking here) was therefore only five games long. Fast forward to now, and it is remarkable how much difference a few months can make. Thanks to the work of pioneers like Daniel Benmergui, Gregory Weir and PixelAnte, there is now an abundance of clever arty Flash games to pique our intellects, and as a result creating this follow-up list of games that make you think has been a doddle. In a wonderful twist, it seems it is the Flash gaming space - until now known more for the throwaway nature of its games rather than depth - that is leading the way in this exciting new area of gaming, as we hope the following games prove. 1Immortall The game starts with you crash landing on a planet. 2Loved 5Coma 6Loondon.
