The arrival is characterized by a large and central public place, connecting the library to the various outdoor areas (parks, pedestrian walkway, bicycle paths, bus stops and parking areas) which are distinguished by the materiality of their grounds. Milimetdesign updated from www.e-architect.co.uk IJburg House The 140 m2 house is located on a small plot in IJburg; a recently developed suburb of the city of Amsterdam. The house is designed as a vertical garden giving space to flora and fauna to grow in a densly urbanised area. Closed private spaces contrast with open collective spaces, that seem to have been ‘carved out’ from the solid volume as a continous transparent void.
In this way the interior space is visually and physically connected to the street, the garden and roof terraces. Three bedrooms, a small bathroom, WC and a ‘multipurpose hall’ are situated on the groundfloor whereas the first floor remains completely open for living, cooking and eating, flooded with daylight. The facade contains specific brick detailing inspired by techniques from the famous Amsterdam school style from the 1920’s, which had become redundant in the 2nd half of the 20th century.

Neither opulent nor austere, Holy Rosary Chapel presents a thoughtful meditation on sacred spaces and the spatial embodiment of spiritual experience. The masterplan for the rural campus creates a strong sense of place and draws a distinction between the program’s sacred and secular components. Secular components of the campus take form as linear or “edge” buildings – an administrative block, two linear classroom bars, a religious education building – which form the courtyard in which the oratory is located. The edges of the deck peel down to reveal a space for pedestrians to pause and take in views of the dock and Linear Park which is currently under construction. The underside of the bridge merges with the piers in a single movement with joint lines in the concrete designed to accentuate the geometry of the form. The bridge is the centrepiece of the new extension to the light rail line in Dublin city centre and part of a larger regeneration project for the inner city and former docks.
Constructed using a combination of white insitu and precast reinforced concrete, all formwork is milled directly from 3D parametric models.
