Roasted Cabbage Wedges with Garlic Tahini and Toasted Pepitas

The first is roasting. It quite literally is my favorite preparation for most veggies, bringing out their inherent sweetness and an unmatched level of comforting flavor. Second, I absolutely adore tahini. I want to put it on everything. Always. Gluten-Free Goddess® Recipes: Scalloped Potatoes - Vegan + Dairy-Free. On a whim and out of nowhere (and at 2:54 AM, I'll have you know) I began conjuring images of creamy scalloped potatoes.

Gluten-Free Goddess® Recipes: Scalloped Potatoes - Vegan + Dairy-Free

Odd for someone who must avoid cheese and cream and butter and who- most days- is reconciled to her cheese-free life with a shrugging Lebowski-Zen detachment they write books about. Not to mention, it's been (literally) over a decade since I made this retro recipe, cream or no cream. Alas, I simply couldn't get the idea out of my sleepy Ewan McGregor -esque spiky head. The vegan scalloped potato challenge bit me. Puerto Rican ONION GRAVY for Chicken Plantain Waffles (Paleo, Grain-free, Dairy-free) - Eat Beautiful. Although this takes about 2 hours to make, I guarantee you wont mind it, because it fills your home with a wonderful aroma, and besides, the oven is doing all the work!

SLOW-ROASTED BALSAMIC GLAZED ONIONS

I got this recipe out of an Italian magazine a couple of years ago and loved it because it goes great with any kind of grilled or roasted meats. Simply brush some thickly sliced onions with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper, place in a shallow pan and cover with foil. Roast for 45 min. at 350 degree’s F. Then uncover and roast them for another 40 min. You’ll want to use a good balsamic that has been aged for at least 10 yrs. Once the onions are tender transfer to a platter, and pour your vinegar right into the pan on top of the stove, and on medium heat let it simmer till thick, always moving it with a rubber spatula to scrape up the brown bits.It didn’t take very long to become rich and syrupy. because of the quality of the vinegar. Roasted Yams, Ginger Yogurt, Pickled Red Onions + London

We’ve been back for a week now and with my book deadline closing in fast I’m only now sitting down to tell you about our trip to London. First of all, thank you for all the great recommendations. I tried to reach them all but failed miserably. I did not, however, fail in eating lots of incredible food and falling deeply in love with that city. As I mentioned before, the purpose of the trip was to come together with a number of people with different areas of expertise to brainstorm concepts around the idea of a healthy vending machine.

I went into the trip with a very standard concept of what a healthy vending machine would look like but around that table we talked about curated boxes, refrigerators, juice bars and deeply discussed what exactly is healthy eating. Before we sat down to talk about the idea we visited a number of places around the city getting inspiration for healthy eating and great design. H. They sounded & looked wonderful to me so the head of yellow cauliflower in our fridge was quickly marked for pancakes. Of course there would be cheese in them! Cauliflower Pizza Crust {gluten-free} So for the last few years low carb has been a hype. Personally I don’t really care about it. Po' man meals - cheesy roasted broccoli patties. The love for broccoli in my house is...divided. me and my girls will steam some broccoli, throw a little butter/salt on it them and eat a big o' HUGE bowl of it, content as can be. my boys? Not so much. when the broccoli comes out of the fridge, they take off running in the other direction. at best, i can cut it up into little itsy bitsy pieces and stir it into some rice and my eldest son with eat it. but i had a plan. you can't mess with momma. i made these delicious patties with cheese and panko breadcrumbs for some crunch. then i roasted the mess out of them until they were browned and crunchy, yet cheesy in the middle. roasting the broccoli made it taste nutty and extra good. the result?

No division now exists in the smith household! United we stand! :) Sauteed Radishes with Mint recipe from food52. Author Notes: Butter adds a bit of richness to this otherwise simple dish. Exposing much of their surface area to brown butter gives them a pretty caramel color and delicate flavor, which the mint subtly accents. To get beautiful browning but retain some crunch, we cut the radishes into wedges slightly wider than 1/2 an inch and were careful not to crowd the sauté pan, and were rewarded with these golden, perfectly al dente beauties.

Savoy Cabbage with Coriander and Maltese Sausages : eat in my kitchen. Last week’s guest, my Mediterranean mama Jenny, brought so many mouthwatering delicacies from her home island to our kitchen that I didn’t even know where to start: Maltese sausages, pies, bread and cheese! Earlier this year, I shared our table with you, covered with gifts from another frequent and beloved guest, my partner’s sister Emma. To get an idea of our delicious feast, take a look here. After a couple pies and a few slices of the wonderful sourdough bread, we continued the next morning, with a scrumptious English breakfast.

Bacon, beans and the strongly flavoured island sausages with lots of coriander crowned our plates. You couldn’t ask for more on a late Sunday morning! It has been cold outside in the past few days as we watched the last red and yellow leaves fall outside our windows. Roasted Ginger Lemon Brussels Sprouts : eat in my kitchen. The fact that I found a bag with little green brussels sprouts at the far, far end of my fridge says a lot about my relation to this miniature cabbage. When I have them on my plate, I enjoy eating them, but if I’m not asked to cook them, they barely find their way into my pots.

But this might change as I made a new discovery, roasted ginger lemon brussels sprouts! It’s amazing how the two lemony spices manage to turn the strong aroma of the green leaves into something new, less heavy and almost fresh. Untitled. Marcella Hazan's rice and smothered cabbage soup is not a weeknight meal. Once you've turned diced onion a deep golden-brown on the stovetop, you'll add a heap of finely shredded cabbage, 1 tablespoon of wine vinegar, salt, and pepper, and then cover the pan and leave it to cook for longer than seems reasonable: 1 1/2 hours (and that's the minimum). See the recipe through to completion on Sunday, by adding broth and rice, and you'll have a perfectly enjoyable soup for the rest of the week.

But stop the smothered cabbage in its nascent state, and you won't have to eat soup every night: You can use that tender, caramelized tangle as the jumping off point for many different weeknight meals. Roasted Red Cabbage and Orange Wedges with Maple Syrup : eat in my kitchen. Every year, in late October or early November, our family and friends ask where and how we’re going to celebrate Christmas this year. I often have problems thinking myself into the festive situation so early on.
