Is Neuroscience the Death of Free Will? The Stone is a forum for contemporary philosophers and other thinkers on issues both timely and timeless.

A New Theory of the Universe: an article by Robert Lanza about biocentrism building on quantum physics by putting life into the equation. Essays - Spring 2007 Print Biocentrism builds on quantum physics by putting life into the equation By Robert Lanza While I was sitting one night with a poet friend watching a great opera performed in a tent under arc lights, the poet took my arm and pointed silently.

A New Theory of the Universe: an article by Robert Lanza about biocentrism building on quantum physics by putting life into the equation

Far up, blundering out of the night, a huge Cecropia moth swept past from light to light over the posturings of the actors. The world is not, on the whole, the place we have learned about in our school books. I wondered if our interaction was different from that of any other two objects in the universe. The laws of physics and chemistry can explain the biology of living systems, and I can recite in detail the chemical foundations and cellular organization of animal cells: oxidation, biophysical metabolism, all the carbohydrates and amino acid patterns. Although the beetle did not move, it had sensory cells that transmitted messages to the cells in its brain.

Science Says War Is Over Now (Given the Right Conditions) Fry has also identified 74 “nonwarring cultures” that—while only a fraction of all known societies—nonetheless contradict the depiction of war as universal.

Science Says War Is Over Now (Given the Right Conditions)

His list includes nomadic hunter-gatherers such as the ! Kung in Africa and Aborigines in Australia. These examples are crucial, Fry says, because our ancestors are thought to have lived as nomadic hunter-gatherers from the emergence of the Homo lineage just over 2 million years ago in Africa until the appearance of agriculture and permanent settlements about 12,000 years ago. That time span constitutes 99 percent of our history. Lethal violence certainly occurred among those nomadic hunter-gatherers, Fry acknowledges, but for the most part it consisted not of genuine warfare but of fights between two men, often over a woman. The Goldilocks Enigma, again... Circumstellar Habitable Zone - Ecobalance - Ecosphere The evolving physics that define the vast array of coincidetally balanced, "just-right" conditions that make up the Goldilocks Enigma, ranges dramatically in magnitude and time, from the near-"flat", balanced structuring of the universe, itself, all the way down to our own local self-regulating ecobalance, whose chaotic cycles we directly contribute to enhance over time.

The Goldilocks Enigma, again...

These "ecospheres" began unfolding at the moment of the big bang, but it took most of 14 billion years to bring them all to "fruition", so claims that this structure defining physics isn't **necessarily** pointed directly at carbon based life, are, at least *apparently* absurd, and must be justified with something more than "somewhat" established cutting-edge physics speculations. That's a testable prediction about where and when life will most likely be found elsewhere in the universe. This paper by A. Feoli, and S. "Is the Strong Anthropic Principle Too Weak?

Anthony Gucciardi, ContributorActivist Post In a developing story, the Daily Mail is now reporting that the very first (admitted) group of genetically modified babies have been ‘created’ in the United States.

World’s First Genetically Modified Babies ‘Created’ in US

The scientists involved reportedly announced the result on the night of June 27th, stating that 30 babies were born using genetic modification techniques. Furthermore, 2 of the babies tested were found to contain genes from a total of 3 different parents.
