Easy Hopscotch Baby Quilt Pattern

The quilt example on the left is made from just three fabrics, while the colorful quilt on the right is fat quarter friendly and makes a wonderful I Spy quilt when you use novelty fabrics in the large squares. The quilt on the left finishes at 40-1/2" x 48-1/2"The quilt on the right includes 4" finished borders so is about 8" wider and taller, perfect for a toddler or lap quilt. There are no triangles in this quilt,...MORE and that means you'll work with patches cut along the fabric's sturdier straight grain.

FREE Tutorial: How to Adapt a Cross-Stitch Pattern for Quilting

This year, I made a couple of cute Star Wars themed quilts using cross-stitch patterns from Jacqueline of Wee Little Stitches. If you are a fan of anything remotely nerdy, from Star Wars and Star Trek to Buffy and the Big Lebowski, the chances are you’ll find a fun cross-stitch pattern for it at Wee Little Stitches. When I shared my creations with Jacqueline, she told me that she receives frequent requests on how to do this type of adaptation of her patterns, so with her permission and encouragement, I decided to create this tutorial. I’ll be using one of the Wee Little Stitches freebie patterns, specifically Captain America from The Avengers. And before I get started, I’d like to remind you that while this tutorial is a free offering, both Jacqueline and I support ourselves by making cool stuff for YOU. 1. I’m using the Wee Little Stitches free Avengers pattern, and I have decided to make Captain America. Zip A Bag Chapter 21: Zippered Pleated Pocket for Wallets.

Zip A Bag Chapter 21: Zippered Pleated Pocket for Wallets

So, it's taking me a while to get back into the swing of things. I have Zip A Bag tutorials lined up for you guys but, for some reason, it's been hard to make time to blog them. I suspect it's a combination of jet lag (even though that was - what - 4 weeks ago?) Wearing off, and spring allergies kicking in, and adjusting to a full schedule of kids in school, kids in band, kids in swimming, cooking meals, laundry, shopping for elusive fabric . . . Okay, that last one was a bit of a stretch, as far as fishing for sympathy goes. Quilting - Paper piecing Tutorial.

DIY Bunny Lovey. A blanket or special plush toy is a security staple of most childhoods, and experts agree that attachment to these objects is beneficial in soothing toddler anxiety.

DIY Bunny Lovey

In recent years, smaller “lovey” blankets have gained popularity because they’re easy to take along while still providing the child with a sense of comfort. At just 12″ square, this DIY bunny lovey is totally portable and the best of both worlds—it’s a soft, snuggly blanket with some big-eared personality. Read on to learn how you can sew one yourself! Materials: 2 contrasting fabrics (1/2 yard each), smooth fabric (1/8 yard or 4″ remnant), thread, scissors, iron, pins, sewing machine, fabric paint and paintbrush There are no right or wrong fabric choices for this project, but keep in mind that this will (hopefully) become a lovey for your child to snuggle.

Begin by cutting 13″ squares of your two main fabrics. Start with the ears. Tutorials - Swoon Sewing Patterns. Sew-Alongs There have been a number of sew-alongs for Swoon bags, all done by Brianne Matlage at Ali Cat & Co.

I have seen many different ways to sew a wrist strap thoughout the years and I had an "ah-ha" moment while working on the wrist strap for my latest pattern and decided to whip up a short tutorial to share with everyone.

Tutorial: Sewing a wristlet wrist strap – Blue Calla Patterns

The great part about this wrist strap is that it does not have any exposed raw edges at all - not hidden in the D-ring, not hidden inside the strap. In this example I will be making a strap that is 1 inch wide. (You can adjust accordingly for your project - just keep in mind that you need to quadruple the amount of fabric you want so if you want a strap that is 1/2" thick, you will need to cut your fabric 2 inches high.) - Travel Tissue Cover These are soooooo quick and simple to make. They make great gifts for teachers or work colleagues at Christmas time, and are also a nice little thought for a sick friend, or someone who is going on a holiday! You will need: Two cotton fabrics and matching thread. First of all, cut a rectangle that measure 5 ½ “ x 6 ½ “ from the fabric that you have chosen for the outside of your tissue cover. Place the fabrics right side together, and sew a ¼” seam down both the, 5 ½” sides. Turn the fabric piece right side out, and press, so that you have approximately ¼” of the lining fabric showing at the sides (just like in this photo). Now, fold the edges towards the centre (you should be looking at the lining fabric). How to Make a Custom Pillowcase. Rectangle squared – a quilt block tutorial.

Thanks for all the comments about my latest Innocent Crush quilt. I had several requests for measurements, so I’ve put together a quick tutorial showing how to make up the block that makes up this quilt. First, a quick drawing showing the unfinished measurements (for those of you who want to skip the rest of the tutorial!) – This block is a great one for using fat quarters, and I think it works best with non-directional prints, since the blocks end up turned in many different directions when you put together the quilt top. For my Innocent Crush quilt, I used fat quarters of 11 different prints (all the prints from the Charmed palette). He Connected Three IKEA Bookshelves With Wood To Make THIS For His Wife! The Result? I kind of knew what they were about, but it got me a bit more curious, so I took a look around and found some great resources and ideas. What is a fidget quilt?
