we are doing a mixtape consisted of tunes made by producers on dubstep forum. we already have 30+ producers involved who are uploading their tunes to server. every producer will upload up to 3 tunes. then we will make a mix of 20 (or so) best of them. mix will probably be available as digital download on sites like bleep, karma etc. some ppl are working on artwork too. the money that we got form selling this will go in some other dubstep project like releasing a 12" of best 3 tunes from mix (if we got enough money) or improving a forum, more online mixes etc.

We hooked up with the mysterious Pete Sampson aka THePETEBOX to talk music and give a rundown of his album future loops to see whats been released already… Petebox, you create all kinds of music in all kinds of ways, how would you describe yourself as a musician and the kind of sound you have? I’m a beatboxing, guitar playing, singing, loop pedal using, live music performer! I basically use looping technology with effects to arrange songs live by recording my vocals, sometimes guitar and beatbox to create the tracks and sing over the top. I like to make songs in a more traditional format I guess… verses and chorus’ with vocals rather than ‘producing tracks’ more typical of beatboxers that are about nowdays. The many styles approach is a natural one for me, we all like a bit of everything, my job is to create a common sound and approach that ties it all in together to make the different genres and feels of songs as coherent as possible.

'indigo' stays true to their classic house vibe but succeeds to sound fresh nevertheless, incorporating the same kind of slightly detuned chords we hear in a lot of borderline dubstep tracks from the united kingdom these days.

April 23, 2012 I’ve been following Chicago’s Maps & Atlases casually for a number of years (they put on a hell of a live show), but even still, their lastest album Beware and Be Grateful snuck up and completely took me surprise. The band has always been very skilled in the technical arena, with their noodling math-rock guitar lines and energetic drum fills, but their songwriting has grown by leaps and bounds.

For the past few of years we’ve been immersed in this neo-cumbia craze . Suddenly, apparently out from nowhere -and from everywhere at the same time-, DJ’s and beat producers coming from the hip-hop, electronica and dancehall camps have all started to experiment with this traditional Afro-Colombian folk rhythm . Even though from a mainstream-pop perspective this is still a very underground movement, neo-cumbia is at the verge of exploding to massive proportions . Some even predict (and hope) the days of reggaetón sovereignty are counted; cumbia will eventually overthrow it in the Latin urban space.
