A set of woven pouches can keep electronic devices such as cameras and MP3 players (at left) safe inside your bag. Each has an attractive scalloped edge -- no finishing required. Each can be made by stitching 2 square or rectangular swatches back-to-back (the makeup case requires a third rectangle for a closing flap).

Today’s projects are ones that use up old bits of paper scraps I can’t bear to throw away. I save these pieces of paper (gift wrap, envelope liners, art papers, origami papers, etc.) and then wonder what can I do with them? I have covered pencils and jar lids to brighten them up a bit here. The jars are ones I have salvaged from the recycling bin and the pencils are just plain ones you can buy at a dollar store. http://www.designsponge.com/2009/07/paper-scrap-recycling.html

Candy Wrapper Button Earrings

We've been saving our candy wrappers to make more bracelets like THESE. As I was sorting our collection, I was thinking about how I could make matching earrings. And then the idea came. I wasn't sure if it would work, or if they would even be cute, but I must say that I LOVE the result!

Make a Paperclip Bracelet

http://helpinglittlehands.blogspot.com/2012/01/tutorial-melted-crayon-letter-art-love.html I've never really been big on decorating for holidays, other than Christmas. We've always lived in such small spaces that I didn't want the extra clutter. I had every intention of leaving our Silent Night painting up until we move sometime around April...but then inspiration struck. The Nativity painting came down and these went up. I stumbled across this graphic on Remodelholic...

How to Make Paper Pencils (tutorial) | scissors.paper.wok

http://scissorspaperwok.com/2012/01/04/how-to-make-paper-pencils-tutorial/ I have always wanted to make my own pencils, but the thought of shaping two pieces of wood to allow a piece of lead to sit perfectly inside made me think it wasn’t worth the effort. For some reason I was looking at some pieces of lead I have (for a drafting pencil) and “pop” there it was.. a solution to my DIY longing. Here is a tutorial to make pencils that is so ridiculously easy I’ve made 10 pencils since the idea came to me yesterday! Enjoy. Note on Supplies: Paper: I recommend using 6″ origami paper .
http://www.origami-instructions.com/origami-box.html The origami box is simple to make, and can be used to hold other origami pieces. Or important stuff, like candies. This origami box is also called Masu, which is Japanese for a square wooden box. Follow the step by step photos to make the origami box.

Make a monthly calendar that is as changeable as your schedule. Instead of crossing out plans as dates shift, just move the notes and stack them up on busy days. Start with a 26 1/2-inch square sheet of Masonite fiberboard. Spray-paint it white, and let dry. Then use tape (we suggest easy-to-reposition washi tape) to create a seven-by-seven grid of three-inch squares. Post it Notes, in Tropical and Neon, staples.com .

Disclaimer - please try this craft at your own risk. I had absolutely no trouble making this, but so many of my readers who have tried it have not had success. I don't like anyone wasting their time or money on crafts and I understand how frustrating that can be. Please know if you try this out, it may or may not work for you. I really can't figure out why it has worked for some and not for others. UPDATE: I think some of my fabulous readers figured out the secret.

My husband and I both have cell phones. And both of us have phone chargers. And that means lots of obnoxious cords.
