Recycling Water to Make Your Jeans [INFOGRAPHIC] - Levi Strauss. We recently made 100,000 pairs of Levi’s® women’s jeans with 100 percent recycled water.
End result: We saved some 12 million liters of this vital resource, enough to fill almost five Olympic-size swimming pools. Manufacturing jeans with 100 percent recycled water is something we’re proud of — but even more so is the new industry standard for water recycling and reuse in apparel manufacturing that we’ve established for our supplier factories worldwide. If you know about our commitment to sustainability — and water — this probably doesn’t surprise you.
A bit of background … LEVIS NEW 'WATER-LESS' JEANS – Zoot Magazine. As part of their promise to help maintain sustainable practices and reduce the consumption of water in their factories, Levi”s have developed a new line of jeans called “Water<Less“.
The production of this line uses substantially less water in their denim washing processes (in some cases the consumption is changed from 42 litres to 1.5l) and the brand is donating over 200 million litres of water to communities in need. “WaterTank” is the new interactive action by Levis on Facebook, in partnership with the global charity organisation Water.org, which encourages consumers to change their water consumption habits and help save the communities that are in need of these precious supplies.

Sustainable Design (Task 8) Sustainable design (also called environmental design, environmentally sustainable design, environmentally conscious design, etc.) is the philosophy of designing physical objects, the built environment, and services to comply with the principles of social, economic, sustainability. The Black Rock Arts Foundation Collaborates with Levi Strauss & Co. Community Day. The [BRAF] helped Levi Strauss & Co. with their May 5th Community Day, during which Levi’s employees in San Francisco leave their regular office responsibilities behind and volunteer at Bay Area non-profits.
BRAF was given a special role this year, supporting the company’s efforts to be better caretakers of the planet and reduce both water consumption and material waste in their manufacturing and ordering processes. Over a dozen BRAF volunteers sculpted a literal “mountain” out of samples and scraps of Levi’s and Dockers that are produced each year to help demonstrate the scale of waste, the importance of reducing and re-using such items and to encourage recycling usable samples vs. throwing them away.
Founding Story - MAF. MAF is located in San Francisco’s vibrant Mission District, a neighborhood known for its street festivals, colorful murals, and super burritos.
It’s home to cooks, house cleaners, and small business owners who dream of someday sending their kids to college or owning a home. But without bank accounts or credit histories, everyday activities like paying bills or renting an apartment can be a daunting challenge. MAF was founded in 2007 when the Levi Strauss Foundation and a dynamic group of community leaders came together and imagined a different future for Mission residents.

So far the only major mall to launch in Western Europe this year, Trinity Leeds had its first day of business yesterday. Set to be the UK’s most digitally advanced shopping destination, we had to see if it lived up to its hype. The ‘all-digital experience’ includes a new website with an embedded CRM system, Google Product Search, mobile app (download here), digital screens, free Wi-Fi and a service team equipped with iPads.
Google Product Search: The power of Google at Trinity Leeds was highly anticipated as they pushed Product Search. Google Shopper allows consumers to search for a specific item to see which retailers in the centre sell that product; they also offer price checking functionality and the opportunity to Click and Collect. However, the big build-up was let down by limited references around the mall. Also, the product search doesn’t currently check availability, which is its most significant drawback. App: it was launched the morning of the opening for iPhone. Download here. Friend & Johnson - Photographers + Motion - Jeff Luker - Levi's.
