Isoluminant Color Picking for Non-Photorealistic Rendering. Abstract The physiology of human visual perception helps explain different uses for color and luminance in visual arts.
When visual fields are isoluminant, they look the same to our luminance processing pathway, while potentially looking quite different to the color processing path. This creates a perceptual tension exploited by skilled artists. In this paper, we show how reproducing a target color using a set of isoluminant yet distinct colors can both improve existing NPR image filters and help create new ones. A straight-forward, geometric technique for isoluminant color picking is presented, and then applied in an improved pointillist filter, a new Chuck Close inspired filter, and a novel type of image mosaic filter. Chameleon® Inks, Coatings, Plastics. View available technical literature Chameleon Thermochromic Inks & Coatings change colour gradually in response to fluctuations in temperatures.
There are both irreversible and reversible types. Reversible Inks - Heat activated - These change from a coloured state at room temperature to a translucent colourless state when heated and can reveal messages or pictures beneath often used for Touch & Reveal or Rub & Reveal interactions. They revert back to their coloured state on cooling. colour at room temperaturewincolourless/translucent when heatedcoloured on cooling.
DIY heated clothing : Materials. Everything but the Teflon wire, clothing material, and needle can be purchased from radioshack.
All together the materials cost me about 50 dollars, and you'll have enough wire left over to make a jacket and more. - 30ft of 30 AWG Teflon wire - Some normal copper wiring (16 AWG)- Connectors (See note 1)- Ring connectors for connecting to the battery (See note 2)- Fuse (Over 4 amps with just pants, over 10 if you make a jacket)- Fuse holder (See note 2)- An SPST switch (optional but recommended) (see note 3)- Thermal underwear (or whatever you want to use)- Cloth to make a lining- A thick sewing needle Note 1: You'll want to chose a connector that can be can be quickly disconnected.
This is for the cases where you forget to disconnect from the bike and you try to walk away. Rather than tearing anything apart, the connectors will just come apart. B&H Colour Change - Use thermochromic ink to reveal a message, ensure safety or add interactivity to a product. HOW TO GET WHAT YOU WANT. Thermochromic inks are pigments that change color to colorless at certain temperature.
There are many different types of thermochromic pigments including textile inks for textile screen printing. Usually you mix normal textile pigments with thermochromic inks so that it looks like the ink is changing from one color to the other. For example, if you mix yellow normal pigment with blue thermochromic ink, you will get green ink that changes from green (under reaction temperature) to yellow (over reaction temperature). In this post, we’ll take a look at how cotton compares to viscose rayon. While cotton and rayon fibers are both made from the same polymer (cellulose), cotton’s cellulose is grown in five to six months by plants. Rayon’s cellulose is produced from trees, which require a much longer time (years) to grow before they are big enough for harvesting. The trees are chemically processed to remove everything (bark, lignin, etc.) but the cellulose, and then the remaining cellulose is regenerated into man-made fibers.
Penrose Tribar. Op art. Op art, also known as optical art, is a style of visual art that makes use of optical illusions. Op art works are abstract, with many of the better known pieces made in black and white.
When the viewer looks at them, the impression is given of movement, hidden images, flashing and vibrations, patterns, or alternatively, of swelling or warping. Historical context Peripheral drift illusion. The peripheral drift illusion (PDI) refers to a motion illusion generated by the presentation of a sawtooth luminance grating in the visual periphery.
This illusion was first described by Faubert and Herbert (1999), although a similar effect called the "escalator illusion" was reported by Fraser and Wilcox (1979). A variant of the PDI was created by Kitaoka Akiyoshi and Ashida (2003) who took the continuous sawtooth luminance change, and reversed the intermediate greys. Kitaoka has created numerous variants of the PDI, and one called "rotating snakes" has become very popular. The latter demonstration has kindled great interest in the PDI. The illusion is easily seen when fixating off to the side, and then blinking as fast as possible. Cornsweet illusion.
Left part of the picture seems to be darker than the right one. In fact they have the same brightness. The same image as above, but the edge in the middle is hidden. Left and right part of the image appear as the same color now. The actual distribution of luminance in the picture, and the typical perception of luminance. Café wall illusion. The café wall illusion: the horizontal lines are parallel, despite appearing to be at different angles to each other It was first described under the name Kindergarten illusion, and re-discovered by Richard Gregory in 1973.
According to Gregory, this effect was observed by a member of his laboratory, Steve Simpson, in the tiles of the wall of a café at the bottom of St Michael's Hill, Bristol. It is a variant of the shifted-chessboard illusion originated by Münsterberg. In the construction of the optical illusion often each "brick" is surrounded by a layer of "mortar" intermediate between the dark and light colours of the "bricks".
