Extreme Makeover Optical Illusion

In this edition of extreme home makeover, we can see some real optical illusions.
The Department of Homeland Security monitors your updates on social networks, including Facebook and Twitter, to uncover “Items Of Interest” (IOI), according to an internal DHS document released by the EPIC . That document happens to include a list of the baseline terms for which the DHS–or more specifically, a DHS subcontractor hired to monitor social networks–use to generate real-time IOI reports. (Although the released PDF is generally all reader-selectable text, the list of names was curiously embedded as an image of text, preventing simple indexing. We’ve fixed that below.) To be fair, the DHS does have an internal privacy policy that attempts to strip your “PII”–Personally Identifiable Information–from the aggregated tweets and status updates, with some broad exceptions: http://animalnewyork.com/2012/the-department-of-homeland-security-is-searching-your-facebook-and-twitter-for-these-words/

The original was apparently posted on Buzzhunt Akiyoshi Kitaoka’s incredible optical illusion website : You see embedded spirals, right, of green, pinkish-orange, and blue? Incredibly, the green and the blue spirals are the same color . At first I thought Richard was pulling our collective legs, being a trickster of high magnitude.

The Tangled Web

brothke writes "In the classic poem Inferno, Dante passes through the gates of Hell, which has the inscription abandon all hope, ye who enter here above the entrance. After reading The Tangled Web: A Guide to Securing Modern Web Applications , one gets the feeling the writing secure web code is akin to Dante's experience." Read below for Ben's review.
Once upon a time there was a browser named Firefox -- an open source project that many people happily picked up and spun off into their own versions with names like Iceweasel and Pale Moon. Now the same thing has happened with Google Chrome. Its open source incarnation, Chromium, has become the basis for a slew of spinoffs, remixes, and alternative versions.

Two months ago I wrote a blog entry about a photoshop disaster at Victoria's Secret . The original picture featured a model with a digitally removed handbag. While the handbag was the obvious manipulation, it was not the only modification -- they altered the dress, dress color, and even the model!

Copying Family Photos A common problem with family photos is that only one person has physical possession of an old family photo album. It might be an aunt or uncle, who will eventually pass it on to some grandchild, niece or nephew.

Invert Colour Negatives In Lightroom | Photo Fun

Having written my previous article on scanning slides with a digital camera I have decided apply the theory to copying negatives. Using Adobe Lightroom which is my favourite image processing application, I will show how to obtain perfect negative copies including removal of the negative colour mask.
