This map shows you the delicate tracery of wind flowing over the US. The wind map is a personal art project, not associated with any company. We've done our best to make this as accurate as possible, but can't make any guarantees about the correctness of the data or our software. Please do not use the map or its data to fly a plane, sail a boat, or fight wildfires :-)
La France reste sous l'influence d'un vaste thalweg d'altitude, qui pilote un flux dont le cyclonisme se trouve renforcé par la formation d'un thalweg secondaire entre Alpes et nord de l'Italie au fil de la journée. Ce dernier induira des advections froides relativement marquées à l'étage moyen au sud de la Loire (jusqu'à -26°C à 500 hPa), qui viendront instabiliser sensiblement les profils verticaux sur la zone visée. Les indices de soulèvement présenteront ainsi des valeurs rapidement négatives (MULI/MLLI/SI jusqu'à -2K), avec MUCAPE localement supérieure à 500 J/kg et TTI > 55. Dans ce contexte, des averses ponctuellement orageuses circuleront sur les départements ciblés, en générant des rafales de vent parfois comprises entre 60 et 80 km/h, ainsi que de brèves mais fortes précipitations mêlées de grésil ou de petite grêle. Un risque de phénomène tourbillonnaire peu intense concernera par ailleurs le Gard, le Vaucluse et les Bouches-du-Rhône.

Live storm data from Newport, Isle of Wight from a Boltek StormTracker lightning detector
Here we present live storm data and sferics generated by data recorded by our weather station at Newport, Isle of Wight. This is recorded in real time using a Boltek Storm Tracker PCI lightning detector, and we are currently using Astrogenic Systems NexStorm 1.7.0.2612 Public, Astrogenic Systems StormVue 1.54XE, and Astrogenic Systems TSentry 1.0 software applications. We are able to generate the following detailed plotting of storms around Western Europe, with the map centered on the Isle of Wight. Our data is shared with the StrikeStar EU Networked Lightning Locator System, and the Blitzortung Lightning Tracker System. The Boltek PCI StormTracker works by detecting the radio signals produced by lightning.
