DIY Tuesdays: Flower Fairy Lights Ruffled. I’ve been browsing for outdoor wedding decor and I happened stumbled across this easy DIY project from Apartment Therapy. So cute for a summer wedding! What you’ll need: - Fairy lights (Christmas lights) - Vellum paper in your wedding colors - Scissors Here’s my simplified version of the project: Step 1: Cut 5 inch squares of vellum paper. Step 2: Fold the left and right corners up to meet at the center, forming a diamond shape. Step 3: Cut curves along the open edges to form a heart-shaped top and create the petal effect (see my photo below).

Step 4: Snip the tip of the bottom of the triangle – remember to cut small enough that it won’t fall off the lights but wide enough so you can pass through each fairy light. Although it is unlikely that these tiny lights will catch on fire, you don’t want to worry about that on your wedding day! DIY Doily Backdrop Ruffled. If you loved the backdrop from today’s shoot as much as I did, you will love this project made by Studio Finch. These doily domes can be simply added on a wall using double sided tape, perfect for any wall in need of a backdrop. Super easy to whip up for a bridal shower or dessert table.

Supplies: - Flour - Water - Balloons - Vintage Doilies - Cups (to place balloon doily molds upright while drying) Directions: Blow balloons up to match the size of the doilies (smaller doilies require smaller balloons) Mix 1 part flour to 1 part water for paste Dip the doily fully into the Mixture Wipe excess mixture off of doily Place the doily on top of the balloon Place the doily balloon form on top of the cup Let sit for 3 days until the dome doily structure has hardened. Let the air out of the balloon and the dry doily will hold the dome shape on its own for decorating. DIY {doily canvas bag} Thankfully everyone seems to be making a switch from plastic to lasting when it comes to shopping bags, so here’s another fun little tutorial on customizing one to make it oh so cute.

You might notice a lot of doilies in my recent diy projects. Since I was getting so many ready for A Christmas Gathering I used a lot of the same materials…monograms seems to be pretty popular now too. My friend Cindy called while I was working on this and suggested I just go ahead a put a “W” on it for her, I happily obligied. Canvas bag ($2.00 when on sale at Hobby Lobby), fabric paint, paper doily, Krylon Paper Finishes Adhesive Spray : Spray doily with paper spray adhesive and press down on the bag (not shown).

(Using Krylon Paper Finishes adhesive allows the doily to stick in place while you paint, but it easily pulls off without leaving a sticky mess behind after you paint.) : Gently paint over the holes – I recommend paint meant for fabric, not crafts. . : Peel back doily before paint dries. So… I dressed her up today. This is a super easy project and I LOVE the results! This is the wood I used for the project… 2 – 1x6x4 whitewood boards 1- 2×4 stud Total for wood was under $10… Yippee! I also used Gorilla Wood glue to attach it all together. I cut my 2×4 the same length as my other 2 boards (4ft) I used wood glue and nails to attach the 1×6′s to the 2×4 like this… Then I cut 2 small pieces of from my stud to finish off the sides.

I made some dings all around the whole box, and I also used some furniture upholstery nails around the whole thing because I like the way they look. I decided to try a new product out to finish my box. It’s Rust-Oleum Ultimate Wood Stain. I LOVED it. The Rust-Oleum stain dries in no time. It’s also much less stinky and sticky than the others I have used.

Once it dried I was all finished. I used the 12 ounce sauce bottles from their site (SAU12) What do you think?? Do-it-Yourself DIY String Wedding Lanterns Yarn Chandeliers. Jessica of Wednesday Inc shows us how to make those gorgeous twine chandeliers from the inspiration shoot she shared with us this morning. Using balloons, glue and twine, you can also make these lanterns for your wedding – and then bring it home and use it as your very own mid century lampshade. What you will need are: balloons, glue, yarn, tray for glue, corn starch 1/2 cup of Corn starch, 1/4 cup of Warm water, clear fast drying spray paint, hanging lamp cord or fishing line (depending on your desired final product), and a lighting kit if you’re looking for a fully functional lantern.

Jessica recommends using a sharpie to mark on the inflated balloon how much room you need to leave for the lighting cord. She also recommends coating the balloon with vaseline prior to wrapping the yarn coated with glue so it doesn’t stick on the balloon once it’s dry.
