Once the students have tablets and wi-fi connection (which are not provided yet in my school), the most challenging seems to me to determine students to use the tablets only for educational goals. In my school the use of smart-phones is not permitted because some students use them to play during the lessons, to make inappropriate photos or videos, or to use them for “inspiration” during tests. That's why teachers must set very clear rules, and observe very carefully how students use tablets during classes.

A big challenge for the teachers is also what to do when students are not following the rules, even more challenging then setting the rules. A big challenge by the Maths classes is time. The curriculum is very big, students have important exams to prepare, so there is no much time for activities, teachers should very well think and integrate tablets activities in the curriculum, so as students to benefit and to be helped by these activities. Proactivity and Reflection: Tools to Improve Collaborative ExperiencesMinnesota Media, 2004 Collaboration is the Holy Grail of librarianship.

It’s how we become indispensable to others, but it is arguably the most challenging part of our jobs. There never seems to be enough time. Many teachers are very independent. Scheduling works against team efforts. Library media specialists can and should add genuine value to the educational process through collaborative planning and teaching. A book worth reading is Reflective Practice to Improve Schools. Below are a few suggestions drawn from professional reading (see appended bibliography), from watching really good library media specialists at work, and from reflecting on my own successful collaborative efforts. Please don’t just read the suggestions. That’s it. I. Use student mastery of content area objectives as the goal of the planning and activity.

The Epic BYOD Toolchest (51 Tools You Can Use Now) PowerSchool Learning: (Previously Haiku Learning.) This is a full learning management system (LMS) that I’m trying to get our school to adopt. It’s multiplatform and robust, which makes it a great fit for our BYOD environment. It also works on top of Google Classroom, so I have all those features too, plus my grade book. Google Classroom: Teachers are moving in droves to Google Classroom.

While it doesn’t have all the features of a full-scale LMS, teachers are giving students assignments and so much more with this awesome tool. Sophia: A favorite of my friend Todd Nesloney, this is a basic tool to share a lesson or two. I started with this tool before going to PowerSchool Learning. There are many other content-sharing platforms, like Moodle, Canvas, and CourseSites. Screencasting and Capturing What Happens in Class If you’re going to share and interact with your students in the electronic and physical spaces (as you should), you must learn how to screencast.

Login | Piktochart. Professor tutor EaD.
