However, outside of those writings, Muhammad himself seems to have been pretty progressive when it comes to canines — at one point, he tells how Allah forgives a prostitute because she shows kindness to a stray dog , and at another point, historians report that he posted guards to keep his army from disturbing a female dog who had just given birth.
