OPI Fly, Butter London Pillar Box Red, OPI Hot & Spicy, OPI The "It" Color, China Glaze First Mate, China Glaze Grape Pop I couldn't help but to do a few crazy rainbow mermaid nails for rainbow day. They were so bright and colourful. I felt like I had confetti on my nails! Valentine's Day Nails: Fiery Pink, Black Mesh, & Gold Glitter Fashion. It’s Friday and it’s February 1st and love is in the air! Doesn’t Bebop look lovely in pink pearls? As an alternative to last year’s cute hearts Valentine’s Day nail art, I thought I’d take the saucier route this year with a little hot pink, black lace mesh, and gold glitter. Now, there are many lace nail art options like OPI Pink & Black lace nails {$5.24}, Sally Hansen Salon Effects Laced Up / Misbehaved {$9.09 double pack}, Essie stick nail applique, Embrace the Lace {$10.25}, Lace Nail Art Stickers {$7.90}, and Sally Hansen “Fingerlace Gloves” {$4.00}, BUT I didn’t have any of those, so I DIY’d my own using what I already had.

What You’ll Need… * OPI “Koala Berry” {but any bright shade will do} * Sephora OPI “Only Gold for Me” * Seche Vite fast drying top coat * Lace, mesh * Tweezers, scissors Steps… * Paint one coat of your base color and let dry. . * Cut various pieces of your lace/mesh out to fit your nails. . * Take each nail one at a time, painting your second coat of polish… 00460fullscreen.jpg (683×1024) Pink and Silver Chanel Nails Tutorial... but I used neon purple instead Fashion.

A few weeks ago I came across Chanel’s silver and pink 2012 runway nails and thought it was a better {and much easier} way to achieve that neon rimmed nail art manicure that didn’t go over so well — and I couldn’t wait to try it! Luckily I had a fresh pack of metallic silver nail patches from Sephora I bought years ago before nail patches were really sold anywhere else and thought it would be the perfect project to keep me busy in the car on the way to Palm Springs last week.

I added the fun neon fuchsia/purple color when I had a little free time the following day. In the meantime though, Fab Fatale and The Budget Babe both did similar Chanel nail art manicures, which I thought was funny. We’re all on the same mani wavelength! Here’s how I did mine… * I used metallic Silver nail patches (or stickers) from Sephora as my base… They were so easy, I applied them in the car & photographed the process with my iphone. Rarrrrrr! You can do some amazing stuff with striping tape but it can be tricky to work with! I've been doing a lot of striping manicures recently so I thought I'd pass on a few tricks I've picked up in the process. You do need a healthy dose of patience and a steady hand but with a bit of practice, I think anyone can do it and the possibilities are literally endless. Striping tape is crazy cheap and you can buy it from any number of places online.

I find the cheapest place to purchase is eBay, just search for 'striping tape' and you'll get thousands of results. Obviously it's cheaper if you don't mind waiting a few weeks for delivery from China but even if you buy domestic, it's still cheap! You'll need at least two nail polishes (mine are Tiger Lily from Primark and China Glaze Pink-ie Promise), a top coat, some tweezers, striping tape and a pair of scissors. Start by painting your base colour and making sure it's completely dry before moving on the next step. Here comes the tricky bit.... 'Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication' I felt like wearing a simple, clean springtime manicure today but I wanted to mix things up with a colour combination I haven't tried before - Green and Pink.

The great thing about pastels is you can mix absolutely any colours, even ones that would normally hurt your eyes. Can you imagine a combination of bottle green and hot pink? I can and it's not an image I want to hold on to... but make them both pastels and it looks so freakin' pretty! I used Sally Hansen Crinoline as my base colour with Green Tea just on my middle finger. Finally, I topped everything with two coats of Seche Vite for a glassy finish. Patchwork Colour Block Tutorial. A little while ago, Sally Hansen got in touch to see if I'd like to be a Nail Art Ambassador for their I ♥ Nail Art campaign. As you'll know if you've been reading for a while, my undying love for Sally Hansen is no big secret around here so of course I was more than happy to get involved!

Each month there's a new theme and you can submit your nail creations for the chance to win amazing prizes. I'll be bringing you two tutorials every month and for the month of April, the theme is Colour Blocking! Before you start, make sure you have everything you need: A quick drying top coat. Some Scotch tape, or anything similar. Start by painting on your base colour, this is the colour that will show at the sides. Sticking scotch tape to wet nails is a big no no so wait until it's completely dry before moving on. Apply one piece of scotch tape diagonally across your nail... ... and then another at a right angle to that piece. Apply the second batch of tape in the same way. It's My Birthday and I'll Blog If I Want To. Yep, today is my Birthday! It's just a quick post to show you one of my favourite combinations of late.

I've been wearing a lot of glitter and found the perfect pairing with Sally Hansen Big Money and China Glaze Tart-y for the Party. The little purple hexes in Big Money perfectly compliment the lilac purple. There's a (not so subtle) clue in the mani.... can you guess how old I am today? How To Paint Your Nails With A Charming Leopard Print. NAILED IT! I’ve always loved the artwork below and I finally figured out a way to get a similar look in a mani. It’s different than a regular chevron pattern because it’s slightly more abstract and free-handed. I love the way one color runs over into the next one.

You have to find the right pens- some that run/smear as you slowly apply a topcoat, and others that stay put. Through trial + error, I found that these ones that worked best together: Sharpie “Ultra-Fine Point” regular maker (will run/smear). Whatever colors your choose to use, I suggest putting a white zigzag below a darker zigzag. The steps to this are pretty simple: Start by prepping your nails with a bright color as a base– try hot pink, coral or green. Using your Ultra-Fine tip Sharpie, make a zigzag pattern horizontally. If you want to see a short video clip on running the topcoat over, you can see it on our Vine! By the way, if anyone knows the name of the artist who made that image above, I would love to know so I can credit them! MANI MONDAY. Photos + post by Kristin Ess Cheetah print nails have been around for some time now but we’ve never actually done a tutorial on them.

We got a lot of requests after last week’s Mani Monday heart tutorial, so we’re going for it! TOOLS: 2 toothpicks, black nail polish (American Apparel “Hassid”), gold nail polish (American Apparel “Gold Flash”), clear coat. PREP: Use any color your want on the base of your nails. Take your toothpick and tap it on the table or counter a few times to flatten out the tip. Nail strips are great in cheetah print as well, but so often the stores run out of that pattern. Hit the jump for 4 more pictures... I used Barry M Plum as my base colour and coated my cuticles and all around my nail in Liquid Palisade* before using a sponge to dab on Sally Hansen Be-Jewelled from my cuticles up.

I quickly pulled of the Liquid Pallisade before the glitter dried and applied a top coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails. Cotton Candy Gradient. I'm so so proud of myself today! This is the smoothest gradient I've ever done and possibly my favourite colour combo too. I'm going to chock it up to the perfect polishes which are both smooth but kind of watery two coaters - perfect for gradienting! For the striped finger I applied a few strips of striping tape straight from cuticle to tip using some nail art tweezers, then painted over them with W7 Black and quickly removed the strips.

The glitter on my accent finger is La Femme Purple Glitter. La Femme make some interesting polishes but unfortunately the names aren't quite as creative! Gradient Nails Picture Tutorial. Exciting news today! This blog now resides at thenailasaurus.com! I've always wanted my own domain and after two years I finally decided today was the day to fix that. For some reason, I had it in my head that it would be complicated and expensive. It wasn't! I don't know how it works on other platforms, but it turns out Google will pretty much do it all for you for $12.30 a year.

All you have to do is go to your basic settings in dashboard and follow the steps. Easy as pie and just as satisfying! So yesterday I hinted that I'd be elaborating on the technique I used for my gradient nails. Click 'Read More' to see the tutorial Before you start, make sure you have everything you need and that it's easy to reach from wherever you're sitting. The Stuff... Two colour polishes and a top coat You can choose colours that compliment or go bold and pick two that clash.

A sponge, a plastic sheet and toothpicks I bought a big bathroom sponge and I just cut sections off when I need them. The Fun Part... How to: How I shape my nails. How to: Rescue a nail! Oh shoot. Cracked a nail? Don't give up on it immediately! After a lot of stamping with the feet and cussing around, I usually just rip off the cracked tip. And yes, this usually makes me very sad. But no more sadness for me, because a while ago I discovered these neat little things called silk wraps. A silk wrap is a synthetic nail reinforcement that is made from pieces of silk material. There are wraps made out of linnen and fiberglass too.

You can also use silk wraps if you just happen to have weak nails or if you have cracked an artificial nail. I like to use the Essence SOS Nail Repair Pads, one package contains 10 self adhesive pads. So far I haven't used these on myself, but I think I've applied them about seven times on my mom's nails. How to apply a silk wrap See? This was it for today, thanks so much for reading and till next time! Natural looking beach curls in under 20 minutes! I don’t know about you ladies, but I’m itching for the summer. It doesn’t help that department stores are already putting out their summer wear and swimsuits. Have you ever wanted to get that beautiful “natural” beach curl look to your hair? I want to share with you a technique that works for ALL types of hair, whether it be short, long, thick, thin, frizzy, or flat… and no curling iron involved! 1. With an abundant supply of rhinestone and brass curb chain, we decided to try weaving the components together to make our own collar necklaces. It was fun to see how wonderfully different the pieces turned out - each so fabulous in their own unique way! Honestly, isn’t that the best part about DIYing with friends? You’ll need: Start by laying two pieces of curb chain side by side. Thread the floss under the first link on the left side and through the top of the 2nd link on the right side. Continue this weaving pattern. Tie a knot at the end. Using a different color flow, weave the floss around the first few links – again leaving about a foot of extra slack. Continue weaving and tie a knot at the end. Tie a knot onto the chain.
