Getting a great sound, speed and smoothness out of your solos isn't guaranteed outside of a hefty time commitment. However, there are certain things you can do and certain scales you can become familiar with that will speed up the process and help create a framework for you to start building your lead guitar abilities. I know a lot of you probably don't have the time or the desire to go searching through the vast archives of guitar scales, so I've taken at least some of the work out of it for you and compiled a list of 10 scales that I've found to be the most helpful to me.
