Red wax stalactites drip out of hanging white gauze clothes, creating a poignant sculptural installation. The work captures the viewer within its wall, leading him into the heart of an unresolved experience: Is it an outdoor news-breaking violence scene, or is it an opening to a place of inner pain that spreads out like an ancient landscape, wishing to touch the indescribable?
Ei Esther Naor continues to explore in her new work the different manners in which matter can embody evasive contradicting feelings as eroticism, fear, beauty and suffering. Through matter she creates a fantasy space which brings up the duality of the feminine experience while seeking to undermine the possibility for a single emotional and conceptual interpretation. Au centre de Shanghai, entre les rues NanJing, JiangNing, ShiMen et WeiHai, se trouve ce labyrinthe de ruelles minuscules. Des centaines de maisons et des milliers de personnes vivent dans ce qui n'est qu'un carré entre quatres rues commercantes sur la carte de Shanghai. Des carrés comme celui ci, Shanghai en est rempli, on peut simplement ne pas les voir si l'on ne jette pas un coup d'oeil au delà des portiques entre deux magasins. J'y suis retourné trois fois. Nous avons rencontré ce couple alors que nous découvrions juste ces ruelles. C'est comme ça que nous avons rencontré ces gens, nous prenions des photos de ces maisons abandonnées, toits en lambeaux, murs délabrés, détruits semblait-il, nombreux déchets, poussière...
