How To Overcome Self-Doubt And A Lack of Motivation. This morning I didn’t feel like doing anything. It’s a combination of overtiredness from a few days of hard work, and a lack of sleep last night. I couldn’t motivate myself to do anything important this morning, which is a rare thing for me. And I just felt bad in general. I started to doubt myself, and wonder whether anything I do is worthwhile. I sat here in this funk and wondered how to get out of it. That was definitely what I was considering. Here’s what I did that worked, in hopes that it might help you if these feelings ever come up.. 1. I think we all have the tendency to put ourselves at the center of the universe, and see everything from the viewpoint of how it affects us. 2. We all have this picture of ourselves, this idea of what kind of person we are. 3. I only have so many days left on earth. 4. It can be hard to get moving when you are stuck.

I’m still feeling tired, and so I’ll take a nap later. And this too shall pass. Cognitive Type, Functions, & Eye Movements: Ni, Ne, Fi, Ti, Se, Si, Fe, Te. By Dr. A.J. Drenth Cognitive Type is a website that takes a new and intriguing approach to personality typing. Like our approach here at Personality Junkie, those at Cognitive Type focus primarily on the eight Jungian / cognitive functions (e.g., Ni, Ne, Fi…) rather than the preferences (N, S, F…). To reflect their focus on the Jungian functions, their nomenclature for the 16 types diverges from the Myers-Briggs tradition, but in many ways comes closer to Jung.

Their practice is to name each type according to its dominant and auxiliary functions (i.e., INFJ = NiFe, ENFJ = FeNi, ISFJ = SiFe, ESFJ = FeSi, INTJ = NiTe, ENTJ = TeNi, ISTJ = SiTe, ESTJ = TeSi, INTP = TiNe, ENTP = NeTi, ISTP = TiSe, ESTP = SeTi, INFP = FiNe, ENFP = NeFi, ISFP = FiSe, ESFP = SeFi). Eye Movements, Expressions, & Cognitive Types / Functions Extraverted Sensing (Se) & Extraverted Intuition (Ne) The primary purpose of the eyes is extraverted perception. Introverted Sensing (Si) & Introverted Intuition (Ni) At what age do we understand sarcasm? m630hsidYc1rzu8v7o1_1280.png (1072×924) Yesterday and Today: Introverted vs. Extraverted Sensing « Andrea J. Wenger: Write with Personality. Writers often get lost in their heads.

If they didn’t, they might never get any work done. But for those with a preference for introversion and intuition, it can be difficult to reconnect with the real world. I suspect that writers in general, and IN types in particular, suffer from chronic sensory deprivation. We have to make an effort to interrupt our writing and indulge our senses. To stay grounded, I keep crayons near my computer so I can play with color combinations. INFJs like me extravert their sensing function. By contrast, introverted sensing relates the present situation to past experience.

A good example of the contrast between introverted and extraverted sensing can be observed on the History Channel’s Pawn Stars. Corey, on the other hand, takes a more detached approach. All types use introverted or extraverted sensing, even those who prefer intuition. Like this: Like Loading... The Top 10 Psychology Studies of 2010.

The end of 2010 fast approaches, and I'm thrilled to have been asked by the editors of Psychology Today to write about the Top 10 psychology studies of the year. I've focused on studies that I personally feel stand out, not only as examples of great science, but even more importantly, as examples of how the science of psychology can improve our lives.

Each study has a clear "take home" message, offering the reader an insight or a simple strategy they can use to reach their goals , strengthen their relationships, make better decisions, or become happier. If you extract the wisdom from these ten studies and apply them in your own life, 2011 just might be a very good year. 1) How to Break Bad Habits If you are trying to stop smoking , swearing, or chewing your nails, you have probably tried the strategy of distracting yourself - taking your mind off whatever it is you are trying not to do - to break the habit. You may also have realized by now that it doesn't work. J. J. M. J. Amy Cuddy: Your Body Language Shapes Who You Are. For some people, feeling a sense of control -- over themselves, others, situations or all of the above -- is a natural thing. For others, it doesn't come as easy. In her TEDTalk (above), social psychologist Amy Cuddy shares an easy way that anyone can change not only others' perceptions of them, but the way they feel about themselves -- spending two minutes "power posing" with their arms or elbows out, their chin lifted and their posture expansive. Trustworthy-Looking Face Meets Brown Eyes. We tested whether eye color influences perception of trustworthiness. Facial photographs of 40 female and 40 male students were rated for perceived trustworthiness.

Eye color had a significant effect, the brown-eyed faces being perceived as more trustworthy than the blue-eyed ones. Geometric morphometrics, however, revealed significant correlations between eye color and face shape. Thus, face shape likewise had a significant effect on perceived trustworthiness but only for male faces, the effect for female faces not being significant. Are your eyes and brain forcing you to conform? I drew my coffee cup directly from above. It looks something like the letter "Q," but without the curve, and it was oriented differently- the handle facing to the NE, if N was the top of the page. There is no angle- it is directly from above. It also has double lines, and the center circle is filled in black. My coffee cup is full of coffee. I've got an answer for you: these people were not drawing a coffee cup, they were drawing the Symbol of a specified item.
