Salted Chocolate Tart. I have always avoided making chocolate tarts, not out of laziness (I love a bit of pastry-making, in the right mood), but because I have never really felt that the pastry served the chocolate, or was worth the effort here.

Last week I was flipping through recipes, looking for ideas for Sunday dessert, and this totally leapt off the page at me. Not only did the combination of components sound absolutely phenomenal, but I’m really partial these days to recipes that can be made in steps… bonus if each step can be completed within the amount of time that a 7-month old naps I’ve been crazy about the combination of chocolate, caramel and sea salt since my sister started making stops at a local chocolate shop last summer and showing up to our house with baggies of chocolate-covered salted caramel.

A buttery almond crust, gooey salted caramel and bittersweet chocolate ganache, all garnished with salted crystals. Chocolaty, rich and buttery, I fell in love with it from the first bite. Love the salt crystals as they don't melt immediately and let your taste buds experience the sweet, the salty and the bitter in the same time. This is the second time I make this tart and I find it a fabulous dessert, totally irresistible. A suitable dessert for any special occasion and everybody will be more than delighted.

Don't be afraid to give it a try, it is not a difficult recipe. The combination between sweet and salty has become one of my favorites.
