A TIE-NY TOKEN OF APPRECIATION. Wowser...it just hit me that dad day is right around the corner...and hadn't done any projects for it!... So...here's a little last minute something something... now...not sure why ties have become the gift standard...because seems that the only time my father wore one was for funerals...but for all those dads that dress to impress...there's no reason why your keys shouldn't be as sophisticated!... So grab a old tie from years past and a key ring...that's all you'll need for this!... Well...some scissors and glue too... oh...you might notice that this isn't the same tie in the original pic...well...after finishing that one...i realized that i hadn't taken any pics along the way...so i had to grab a stand-in for the tutorial...just think of it as a stunt tie.... take the narrow tail end of the tie and pull it through the ring...about five inches...make sure the seam of the tie is facing down... fold tail sideways...so it is pointing to right...now you'll be able to see the seams...

A Well Done Scientific Hoax Called Water Marbles Posted by: Antony Williams in Uncategorized Copyright©2010 Antony Williams Please note the headline, and don’t waste your time trying this at home A couple of days ago I came across a video on YouTube about “Water Marbles”. It’s excellent because by time I had finished watching this I was both excited and confused. At ScienceOnline2010 I was involved in a number of discussions, as usual, regarding data quality, curation and assertions….this being based on my experience with curating the ChemSpider database.

Post ScienceOnline2010 I got home this afternoon to find my kids desperately wanting to do kitchen chemistry so, with pessimism I started to work through the experiment with them. There have been a lot of exchanges online about this topic of water marbles with chemists exchanging concepts about the science behind it if it did work. The polymer beads can be bought here. Stumble it! DIY Geometric Lanterns. Aug 15 by Jenny Batt Geometrics aren’t going anywhere soon, why not include them in your party decor? I saw a tissue paper lantern in a vintage party book and it looks so current in monochromatic hues. Change it into any shade you want by choosing from the array of tissue papers available. Materials Needed: tissue paper (a variety of shades can be found here), double stick tape, scissors, needle, fishing line Unfold your tissue paper and take two sheets. Cut a strip of fishing line about 12 inches long and use it to thread a medium sized needle.

Repeat and make many, many more; these look great en masse. Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time. Round Up: Girls' Camp Crafts. For the past couple of weeks, I have had camp crafts, long hikes, summer breezes, canoeing and swimming, and planning craziness on the brain. Somehow, I managed to become Camp Director for our Girls' Camp this year {it's a LDS aka Mormon church thing}. Now, I loved Girls' Camp, but I had no idea how much work went into it every year {including time, money, talents, creativity, ideas, planning, etc, etc, etc}. Anyway, one of my duties is to plan the crafts. I love crafting, but these crafts have to be on the more simple side. So after much searching, I've compiled a round up of 20 great Girls' Camp crafts.

DIY Wipes and Cleaning Products | Deals. After 13 years of marriage, Courtney Fowler and her husband Josh made the decision to expand their family. But the addition to their family has put a strain on their finances. To save money, the couple makes their own cleaning and baby wipes. "We've had two children of our own. Here recently God really laid it on my heart that we were not done with our family, that we had some more children out there," said Fowler, "I've always thought I was money conscience but I didn't realize how much I wasn't until we decided to adopt. " The Fowlers are still saving money to bring two children from China home.

"We have two little boys. They are both special needs. Courtney started saving by making her own cleaning supplies. "I'm a convenience kind of gal. From baby wipes to glass and surface wipes and sanitization wipes, each batch costs about 75 cents to make. Here are the recipes: Glass Cleaner Wipes Baby Wipes Bleach WipesMoisturizing Hand Sanitizer Wipes. Magnetic Photo Holder. Have you seen these Magnetic Photo Holders - - it's kind of like a picture frame, but not really. It's a piece of sheet metal, and then you put pictures on it by using magnets.

I have made a couple of sets of these to sell in a local boutique and realized that I never did a post about them. And of course I've already made them - but I'll try and tell you how.... I bought my sheet metal from Pick Your Plum - so maybe keep your eye out to see if they run that deal again - I have a handy button on my sidebar that shows the deal of the day.... Anyways, then I got a 2x4 and had Trevor cut it for me, into chunks that were about the size of the sheet metal. I was going to stain the boards, but when I looked outside it was raining, and it was spray stain so I needed to be outside - so I just went au-naturale.

I made a whole set of "we love daddy" for father's day and they were a hit. I think that these would be perfect for a photo display on a desk at work. Tape Marker Monster | onelmon. Halo! Saya kembali menambah satu anggota monster lagi untuk seri onelmon. Monster-monster lain dapat dilihat di tutorial tempat pulpen dan kantung telepon genggam ;) Hello! I’m back with the third monster for the onelmon series. Saya pribadi merasa aktivitas “mencari ujung selotip” sebagai salah satu tantangan hidup (hiperbola). I always find ‘the quest’ of finding the end of a tape (particularly scotch tape!) Bahan yang dibutuhkan: Flanel;Kapas (isi);Kertas plastik;Velcro;Jarum dan benang;Spidol. What you need: Felt;Cotton (as filling);Vinyl plastic;Hook and loop fasterner/ velcro;Needle and thread;Marker. Untuk tutorial ini, saya membuat monster kura-kura (hanya karena saya rasa kura-kura cukup mudah untuk dibuat).

For this tutorial, I’m making a little turtle (I’m a beginner in sewing and I assume turtle is one of the simplest animals to make). Mulailah dengan membuat 3 lingkaran berdiameter 4 cm, satu berwarna hijau untuk tempurung dan dua berwarna kuning untuk badan. Tempurung kura-kura. Wine Tag. Hello, all! I am sharing a simple wine tag with you today. I know there are dies out there that makes making this easier, but it really doesn't take much to make your own.

Here is how I made mine. I am making a little pocket so that I can tuck a little tag in it for the recipient. Die cut or punch a circle on one side of the cardstock. Fold cardstock in a Z shape as shown. Round corners (if desired). Add patterned paper and decorate as desired. And here you have it! Here is a look of the tag on a wine bottle. Hope you will give this easy and fun project a try! They have a fantastic project to share with you today. Hey there! I'm super excited to share this project with you because it opens up a whole world of possibilities for us DIYers who would rather make something custom than buy it at the store. Step 1: Gather your materials. Fabric: the amount depends on the size of your mat. Rubber Mat Runner: I've seen similar floor mats made with vinyl flooring remnants, but I wanted something sturdy with traction and this fit the bill!

Spray Adhesive Water-based Polyurethane Scissors Duct Tape Step 2: Using your scissors, cut your rubber mat to size. 3. 4. Don't mind me...just loving on my fabric while smoothing out the wrinkles. Re-purposing: Tshirts into 5-strand-braided-headbands. I was walking through Target a few weeks ago and noticed this little knit fabric headband that was not just braided together…….but woven. I decided they were charging way too much for something that could be made with t-shirt scraps. And that means free. So there you have it. A nice and easy project to give my bad-hair-day head some love. (Or you may need one for working out. I kinda love it on my little girl . She always has little hair fly-aways that get into her face…….and this helps with that problem. It even works great with her hair down…..and keeps that hair tucked behind her ears. And yep, good for me too. Thanks little t-shirt scraps. Want to make your own?

First, find some old t-shirts. Then, cut your fabric into long strips. Next, stack your 5 strips on top of each other and sew together at one end. Now, pull on each strip of fabric so that they kind of curl on the edges. But let me explain a little better. First, you’ll work on the left side. And that’s it. This post is sponsored by: The Pinterest Challenge Fall 2011: Toilet Paper or Art? | Compartment Life. I am almost bouncing out of my seat not only to show you my pinterest recreation but to see everyone else’s projects as well. Not quite clued in yet? Well then let me give you a brief history lesson. Pinterest is a website that allows you to create hundreds of inspiration boards, you can “pin” any picture on the web that you like, and about 3 months ago Sherry from Younghouselove along with some other great bloggers came up with a challenge (read about Sherry’s bff’s that participated in the challenge as well, Katie’s project, Ana’s project, and Erin’s project).

The pinterest challenge as it’s formally known, and our great community of design bloggers come together to pick a project or a picture seen on pinterest and actually try to recreate the project (hopefully with some of our own personal flair). Here’s a breakdown of the charges: Page corner bookmarks. This project comes to you at the request of Twitterer @GCcapitalM. I used to believe that a person could never have too many books, or too many bookmarks. Then I moved into an apartment slightly larger than some people’s closets (and much smaller than many people’s garages) and all these beliefs got turned on their naïeve little heads. But what a person can always look for more of is really cool unique bookmarks.

Placeholders special enough for the books that are special enough to remain in your culled-out-of-spacial-necessity collection. Page corner bookmarks are cute, practical and deeply under-represented in the world.* They’re easy to make, easy to customize, and will set you apart from all those same-same flat rectangular bookmarks. If you like this tutorial, here are a couple others that might be up your alley.

Neon Geo Bobby Pins. I basically live in all black, but since neon is so huge this season I wanted to work it into my wardrobe somehow. A little pop of neon in my hair seemed perfect. First off, we need our beads. I have a tutorial already made for these geo beads which can be found here, but for this round, I basically followed Dismount Creative's tut. The clay was hard as hell to condition, so I used a spoon to help me lol. Now to the actual bobby pins. Put a dollop of glue on your bobby pin and then place your bead on top.
