Tips & Tutorials Back to top VIDEO TUTORIAL - How to set in eyelets with a setting tool VIDEO TUTORIAL - Simple method for inserting purse feet. VIDEO TUTORIAL - How to Use a Clover Quick Yo Yo Maker This is an absolute must-read for anyone embarking on bag-making! ALWAYS use interfacing on any bag piece where the pattern reads "cut [specified number] i/f".

Interfacing creates structure if it is used on the body of the bag - but is entirely optional here, and using it depends on the weight of the fabric and the finished look that you require. By fusing interfacing to every piece of the outside of the bag you'll add a lot more structure and "OOMPH" to the fabric. You can interface the lining if you want a stiff lining, but it shouldn't be the main support in the bag. It's important to remember that by adding an extra layer of interfacing to a bag piece, you are also increasing the bulk of the fabric. Click here to see the range of interfacings at Nicole Mallalieu Design 1. 2. 3. 4. 1. 3. The library tote tutorial. Here's a fun tote bag project I thunk up (yes, thunk) the other day. | The Library Tote Tutorial | Whether you like things scrappy or streamlined, this bag is ready to go when you are. Take it to the library or to the park, it's big enough for all the essentials. Posted on | October 9, 2008 | 7 Comments I originally became interested in patternless sewing, many years ago, because I had a hard time finding patterns in my size. Nowadays, patterns in large sizes abound. Nonetheless, I still love my pattern free sewing. These patterns generally of three types. One type requires you to take your measurements and draw up the pattern yourself. One method is completely pattern free and includes instructions only. And the third, offers printable patterns in certain sizes only. Skirts are very easy to make without a pattern.

I came across a few patterns that didn’t fit into any other category, so I gave them their own. We normally assume underwear is too complicated or to time consuming to sew ourselves. Aprons can usually be whipped up in less than an hour. Shirts and dresses are much more complicated to make than skirts. Coats can easily be the most expensive piece of clothing in your wardrobe. This tutorial is an old one of mine that’s too good not to share again.

Since posting the first time, I’ve had lots of questions about these buttons which will hopefully be answered in this revised post. Equipment Some handy notes: 1. The buttons. The buttons are cut from shrink paper. Single hole, hole punch (like this one here). 2. 3. Okay.. lets get started! Tracing tips: You can use either coloured pencils or permanent pens. Words must be writted backwards in order to be readable.

Shrinking the buttons: To shrink the buttons, you can use an oven or a heat gun (the kind used for embellishing). After the buttons have twisted and twirled, and are LYING FLAT, it’s time to take them out. Note: If the skrinking is taking too long, you may need to turn your oven up. Here’s a short little stop-motion to make sure you’ve got the gist of how easy this is! Shrink Paper {here} Circle Punch {here} Hole punch {here} Pens {here} Update: Kimanh Hi my name's Kimanh. My laptop bag tutorial on Sew Mama Sew! I was so excited when Beth from Sew Mama Sew! Invited me to contribute to their Back to School month of projects. I thought it would be the perfect time to actually make the laptop bag I wanted for quite some time. Right after I received the colorful-and-oh-so-awesome fabrics from designer Jessica Jones, I knew I had to use them for this project, her fabrics are one of my top favorites, so you should check them out! Actually it was so hard for me to pick just one fabric, I used 2 different ones, one for the front and one for the back! I love it because it’s like I have 2 bags in one, I just switch the side! So today finally the tutorial went live at Sew mama Sew, and Jessica also posted about it in her blog How About Orange, could this day get any better?

I am actually working on a passport pouch and checkcover to match the bag so wen I go to Chile in september I can take all of them with me and of course I will share the how-to’s for you to do the same if you’d like! Updated September 2011 We have remade these awesome, simple bags for fall!

This time around, I used a gorgeous new collection of upholstery weight cotton called Outside Oslo. These bold, stylish prints are sophisticated without being serious and come in a rich palette of colors perfect for fall. I added some sturdy contrasting cotton webbing handles for a pop of color, and I love the way they came out! The new materials are as follows: To make one tote bag: 1/2- yard of Outside Oslo Fabric. Updated February 2011 These totes really do come together in 20 minutes a piece which makes them a great, quick, way to add a little Springtime color and excitement into the dull end of Winter months. 1/2-yard of Kokka Apples. I’ve got a new summer bag that I totally love. It’s nice and heavy-weight, the perfect size for all my stuff, annnnd…… It’s reversible! Yay! It’s good to have options. Here are the TOTE bag versions we’ve tried so far…. This time around we’ll make it: • reversible (similar to having a lining) • color-blocked on the outside with heavy Duck Cloth (read more about duck cloth and other fabrics in my book) • DIY handles Summer, Summer, Summer time. Let’s get started. Start by cutting all your bag pieces. The reversible bag is basically two separate bags, sewn together at the top. Decide what size you’d like for your bag. Start by sewing the handles. If you’re using lightweight fabrics, place right sides of the fabric together and sew down each side.

However, with heavy duck cloth it’s very difficult to pull the fabric right-side out. Now piece together the bag fronts and backs…. Now your bag pieces are ready to assemble. Then Box out the bottom of each bag, about 2 1/2 inches on each side. Bags, Purses, Totes: Free Projects. Patrons gratuits à télécharger. Liste des patrons.

If you can spare two pillowcases, here is a tutorial for a free reusable shopping bag: One pillowcase will form the outside, and the other will be the lining. Lay both pillowcases flat and cut out the pattern below. Measurements below are for a fairly small bag- feel free to add as much length as your pillowcases allow, or adapt the pattern once you've made your first tester bag. You will have two outside pieces (blue) and two lining pieces (taupe). If you want a pocket, sew one to the good side of a lining piece now. Lay one outer (blue) piece on top of one lining (taupe) with right sides together. Turn right side out and topstitch the same place - up one side of the curve and down the other.

With right sides together, lay the front piece over the back piece. Here's how to square the corners of the bag: from the inside, take the bottom corner of bag and pinch sideways. Confused? And this is a square corner from the outside. Frilly Apron - Project - The Spotlight Inspiration Room | Australia. "Mes Petites Coutures..." - Couture facile. Blog.
