Vivian Maier - Inspiration from Masters of Photography. Vivian Dorothea Maier, was an interesting street photographer born in New york city. Earlier she did grow up in France but later returned to United states. During this period she worked as a Nanny in Chicago and it was during these days she shot almost more than 100,000 photographs. These pictures were some early days representation of people, cityscapes and street views of her vision. The most important aspect in Maier’s life is that her work was never discovered or appreciated during her lifetime, infact nobody knew such a talented street photographer did even exist.

It was only late in 2007, Maier’s work was discovered by a local chicago historian and collector John Maloof. After that, Maier’s work began to spread all over the web followed by numerous accolades and exhibitions around the globe but sadly Vivian Maier passed away on April 21, 2009. © Vivian Maier Once having moved from France, Maier worked in a sweatshop and made her way to the North shore in 1956. U in de Wijk: Boek over het Cartesiusgebied in de maak. Breaking Down a Photo: An Introduction to Reverse Engineering: NYIP Photo Articles. Reverse engineering is a term in common use, and it generally means taking something apart to see how it works and reassembling it for your own use. In photographic terms, it refers to looking at an image and then working out how it was made.

Why would you want to do this? Well, in my experience, there are two main reasons: To learn how someone has taken a certain shot, and, from that, broaden your own craft and skill base. To fulfill a client's brief. As you can imagine, given the enormous range of technical options when shooting an image, coupled with the scope of software like Photoshop, reverse engineering photos is not an exact science. Light Probably the first thing you should look at is the light used in the photograph, as not only is it vital to your own interpretation of how to recreate an effect like the shot in question, but it's also usually one of the easiest things to decode. Start with one of the basics: shadows. Anne, personal shoot, and James May, TV Presenter for Maxim.

Three Special Effects for Night Photography. Fire spinning on the beach I’ve been teaching a Night Photography class for a couple years now and I have to say, I have more fun on those field trips, than all the workshops I lead. I’ve also been itching to try doing fire spinning since I saw Michael Sutton’s about two years ago, and I was recently able to finally do just that. I was thrilled with the results and wanted to share! Here are a few special effects tips and tricks I wanted to share with you, so you can go out and try some of this fun stuff yourself. It’s really not that hard, my only caution is to please be conscious of fire safety at all times!

The basics – equipment needs You do not need a lot of fancy stuff to do night photography, in fact some of my students have even used small point and shoot cameras. Optional items but really handy to have: Bonus low light photography As you’re waiting for it to get dark enough to do your night photography don’t forget to take some tests shots and play around. Big thanks to Jeremy Cowart for introducing my project to photo editor Elizabeth Johnson at CNN. I started this project last year about people lost in their devices. I turned from her to see another person lost in their phone and took a shot of them. I photographed a few more people for a few more blocks. I have found that we get so focused on the screen in front of us we’re oblivious to the world going on around us. As I work this project I’m looking for layers of devices. This is one of my favorites of the series so far… You can see more from this series on the CNN blog and in my 500px feed. Cheers, Zack Discussion Speak Up. #de_VICE: Our mobile ‘addiction’ In a world where texts, tweets and Facebook are constantly accessible through always-handy cell phones, it seems we are never left alone. Photographer Zack Arias’s #de_VICE series captures people who are lost in the world of their digital devices.

“We are tethered to our devices to the point they may be a vice,” Arias wrote on his blog last year. “I know I struggle with it. Once you are in the iWorld it’s amazing how unaware you become of your surroundings.” Arias, a commercial photographer, started the personal project during a trip to New York in 2011. As he walked onto the bustling sidewalk, he saw a girl in a white dress looking down at her phone. “Why are we on these?” Using a Fuji X100, which has a fixed wide-angle lens, Arias gets up close and personal with his oblivious subjects. As the project goes on, Arias continues to seek more layers of people in compact spaces on their phones or tablets — or sometimes both.

“Rarely do I see someone looking at their device happy,” he said. Top 10 Free Online Photo Editing Websites.
