Once the job was completed, and since I wasn't satisfied with the light, materials and textures in the project due the tight schedule I had, I decided to rework all of it and in some cases re-do some clothing from scratch.
I love pin-up art and cartoons, so it was a good opportunity to create a new series. Modeling Instead of wasting time cleaning old models I modeled a whole new character from scratch, keeping the cartoony proportions such as the big head, thin and long legs and big eyes. The main point was to get a cute cartoony yet sexy girl. Fig.01 The torso, arms and legs were modeled from a cylinder, blocking the main volumes and then adding more geometry to work with to define specific areas such as the shoulders, neck, elbows, knees etc (Fig.02 - 04).
Fig.02 Fig.03 Fig.04 The strands of hair were modeled entirely from a plane. Fig.05. Making Of 'A Mouse' by Nikola Drincic. I was making a mousetrap, so needed a mouse. And needed a mouse quickly. So this is not a high detailed model. Just a model of a mouse that you can model in less than an hour. And do not put camera closer than 20 inches or half a meter. To model Mouse I use 3DStudioMax 3.0. Modelingtechnique is polymodeling. Start by making a box. Smaller half circle will be end of nose, and bigger half circle will be end of head, so move them to fit those positions. Now to create something visible. It's time to create faces. When you create mesh.. Fig. 05 Create polygons until you have something that looks like one half of cylinder. At this time you can select the box from the start and delete it.
Now we have something that should be the head of the mouse. New edges will not fit the body of the mouse at first but use a vertex mode to move vertexes and fit it aright. By repeating last two steps create the main form of the mouse body. See how the body is all sharp and squarely. STEP 1: Concept & Modeling I started by practicing with geometric objects, but no concept drawing on the paper. Here I converted the sphere to Editable Poly and then started modeling (Fig.03 – 04). After modeling the body I started to work on some details (Fig.05 – 06). I designed the feet on the basis of the arms. Here is the first render of the finished model of the worker robot (Fig.09).
STEP 2: Texturing I rendered my model from different views then inserted them into Photoshop. Here are the first materials, which I created with combination of different maps (Fig.12).
