Everyone has a favourite – Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Rihanna – to name just a few. It is undeniable that these women can sing – but when did it stop being about the music and more about the image? And is that image something we girls should aspire to copy? You’ve probably heard about the story when Rihanna was kicked off a field in the UK while shooting her music video for ‘We Found Love’, because the farmer did not approve of her being topless on his land. If not, it’s likely that you’ve seen Katy Perry’s most recent album cover for ‘Teenage Dream’, where she is shown to be nude with only a few wisps of cloud covering her modesty.

When did everyone become so naked?! These popstars justify their latest songs, videos, and outfits by saying that they are ‘expressing their sexuality,’ which is all very well. It’s these ways in which yes, we should be inspired by female artists today. Beyoncé: Biography. Beyoncé Giselle Knowles is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and actress. She was born on 4th September 1981 in Houston, Texas, and is now one of the most influential and successful musicians of our time. By the late 1990s, she had become famous as the lead singer of R&B girl group Destiny's Child, which grew to be one of the world's best-selling girl groups of all time! The group split in 2005, after Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland had started successful solo projects. The problem with Justin Bieber. A few weeks ago, I was sitting in Departures at Orly Airport in Paris with nothing much to do.

The people next to me, a man and woman around the age of 30, were having what seemed like a very interesting conversation. I say ‘seemed’ like because they were speaking in Dutch, and I couldn’t understand a word of it. Nonetheless, the tones of their voices and their body language made me want to know what they were talking about. I sat there trying to guess the topic, or catch one or two familiar words. Were they talking about a film they’d seen? Or their trip to Paris? Or the Easyjet colour scheme?

A quick bit of research reveals some frightening facts about the young popstar. A lot of people explain Bieber’s popularity by saying ‘it’s just young girls.’ When I was a teenager (in the not-so-distant past), I’m pretty sure girls had better taste. And there it is, the biggest problem of all: Justin Bieber is not cool. Justin Bieber has been watching me type this. 5 Best Rock Songs for Learning English. Carrying a flute from class to class just for a half-hour lesson may have seemed pointless. But as you enter the adult world suddenly you realise that knowing how to play an instrument is pretty cool.

Yes, even the flute. So, what makes being in a band so cool? Is it because you get to go on stage and play to millions of adoring fans? Well, yes, but it’ll be a few years before your dodgy rendition of ‘Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star’ starts to resemble a Mozart symphony. Even if you’ve been born with endless talent it’s still not easy to organise a band, but here’s a quick guide to get you started: 1) Find your members. 2) Organise a band practice. 3) Be productive. 4) Agree on songs to learn, and learn them! 5) Start writing. If that sounds like a lot of hard work, then you’re right! Being in a band teaches you precious life lessons. Music Festivals Around the World.
