Directory of North American Egyptologists. Since 1988 the UAEE has published the Directory of North American Egyptologists which provides the names and contact data for professional Egyptologists and current doctoral students in North America, as well as listing current and recent doctoral dissertations in Egyptology.
From 1996 to 2014 the DNAE was co-published with the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago. The DNAE relies primarily on individuals and institutions to forward their current contact information. However, as of March 2014, we are endeavoring to confirm all of the information provided below, and expect to do so annually. If we are unable to confirm it, a notation will be made. Photo:Owen Murray Updated: March 2013 ARCE's Qurna Site Improvement project (QSI), funded by USAID, is described here in terms of its archaeological facets. Summaries of work conducted will be updated regularly. This project was developed in response to both the demolition of the hamlets in Sheikh Abd el Qurna and el Khokha, and the economic crisis that followed the 2011 Egyptian Revolution.
The destruction of the hamlets left large portions of the UNESCO World Heritage site in visual disarray, with debris piles and the remains of partially demolished buildings in and around tombs open to visitors. At the same time, employment estimates suggested that 70% of Luxor locals were either directly or indirectly economically tied to aspects of the tourism industry.

The Griffith Institute has been at the heart of Egyptology and Ancient Near Eastern Studies at the University of Oxford for seventy-five years.
It is home to two major research projects, the Topographical Bibliography (Porter & Moss) and the Online Egyptological Bibliography (OEB). The Griffith Institute also houses an archive of 'wonderful things' containing the collective memory and life work of some of Egyptology's greatest scholars, including its founder Francis Llewellyn Griffith, as well as Sir Alan Gardiner and Jaroslav Černý.
