The New Face of Professional Development. | iplantes. In the past week I have experienced two kinds of professional development (PD). Presented and Paid to attend a conference put on by a well-known education organization focusing on dyslexia, Conference APresented and attended a free conference organized by educators in one school district, Conference B It is astounding the difference between these two events!
Conference A: The conference began with a wonderful keynote, and there appeared to be strong attendance, although found out later that attendance on day one was a little over half of whom had registered. The sessions that followed were sorely disappointing. Conference B: #icon2013 I learned about on Twitter from some fabulous educators I follow. The Take Away: The face of PD is changing. The world of education is changing and evolving quickly for the 21st Century teacher and learner.

In de dagelijkse onderwijspraktijk wordt die vaardigheid meestal weinig ontwikkeld of gestimuleerd. De meeste standaardtoetsen meten voornamelijk cognitieve vaardigheden en dan nog op een betrekkelijk laag niveau.
De overheid wil Nederland in de top-vijf beste onderwijslanden. De wereldwijde trend van meer meten en afrekenen in het onderwijs komt de kwaliteit van het onderwijs niet ten goede. Not much, according to Sugata Mitra, Professor of Educational Technology at Newscastle University in England. In fact, it can be reduced to three ingredients. Mitra has come credibility here. His hole-in-the-wall project in 2007 generated tremendous interest when he showed that children could indeed learn complex tasks in the absence of formal training, spurred on by curiosity and peer interest.

Applications for Education The interactive rubrics on Beyond the Bubble could be very helpful to some teachers when they're evaluating their students' work. In my experience the trickiest part of using rubrics that someone else wrote is understanding what they meant with the indicator language that they chose. Personalisering van het leren is als een reis. Een reis met de nodige hobbels. Dat werd met name duidelijk tijdens de eerste twee presentaties van een sessie van de Online Educa over dit onderwerp.
Na de openingssessie van de Online Educa heb ik deelgenomen aan een sessie over personalisering van het leren. Ik was één van de presentatoren. Jef Borden van Pearson stelde dat er al langer wordt gepleit voor onderwijsveranderingen. Hij haalde onderzoek aan over het geheugen en het belang van herinneren en ophalen van gegevens ten behoeve van leren op langere termijn. Hij gaf aan dat personaliseren een complexe vorm van onderwijsverandering is. Personaliseren gaat om het maken van keuzes. Pearson analyseert data uit hun cloud leermanagementsysteem, en kan op basis daarvan voorspellen of een lerende gaat uitvallen. Dit leidt wel tot ethische vraagstukken. Gerald Bossenbroek van het Hondsrug College ging in op hun ervaringen met het gebruik van technologie voor personalisering. This Is Why I Would Prefer Ideapaint Over an IWB In My Classroom.
