Optical Illusions Pictures - Will They Trick You As Well?

This is a different take on Responsive Web design. This article discusses how we can better embrace what the Web is about by ignoring the big elephant in the room; that is, how we can rely on media queries and breakpoints without any concern for devices.Written by toxboe on Dec 4, 2011 The profession of improving usability asks how we best help our users fulfill their goals. The Progressive Reveal: The eLearning Coach
I like to provide learners with progressive revelations. This instructional strategy involves slowly revealing information, especially visual information. I like to start with one part of a visual concept and then build on it. I show one part of a diagram and then slowly complete it. For example, picture a simple hierarchical diagram where only the box at the top is visible. Then as you discuss, you show the next row of boxes, discuss some more and show the next and so on.The art of data visualization
Visual Thinking for Design
T ere has been a revolution in our understanding of human perception that goes under the name “active vision. ” Active vision means that we should think about graphic designs as cognitive tools, enhancing and extending our brains. Although we can, to some extent, form mental images in our heads, we do much better when those images are out in the world, on paper or computer screen. Diagrams, maps, web pages, information graphics, visual instructions, and technical illustrations all help us to solve problems through a process of visual thinking. We are all cognitive cyborgs in this Internet age in the sense that we rely heavily on cognitive tools to amplify our mental abilities. The Human Face of Type by Edward Mendelson | NYRblog | The New York Review of Books
I was always interested in typefaces, but I became obsessed with them only when my wife got pregnant. The psychological mechanism seems to have been something like this: For five centuries, printers’ type was made of lead; the form into which the molten metal was poured and which gave the letter its shape was called a matrix—the Latin word for womb. At a time when something that mattered a great deal to me was taking shape in a real womb, I could not stop thinking about letters and symbols that had taken shape in metaphoric ones. A poster for Helvetica For me, as for many other people who care about type, a typeface should be personal and expressive, like a human face. For others, type should be an impersonal machine for transmitting data.Cerveau Neuroscience Cognitif

10 Relevant Facts About the Brain: The eLearning Coach
People involved in the field of learning have a special affection for the spectacular capabilities of the human brain. Understanding the brain’s innate strengths and limitations can help us create better online learning experiences. Because working memory can maniuplate 3 to 5 items at one time and because it has a short duration, it is considered a bottleneck in the learning process.COAP
