Up until the discovery of petrolatum and the introduction of toxic chemicals, paints were created using natural ingredients such as: linseed oil, lime, casein from milk, turpentine, citrus oils, chalk and hemp oil. Natural pigments were also used to color the paint. However, this is not the case anymore. Although major paint manufacturers are now producing more environmentally friendly paints, a good majority of them can still contain more than 450 hazardous substances, mainly voc's. Voc's (Volatile Organic Compounds) belong to a family of chemicals that evaporate quickly and leave an undesirable odor such as toluene, xylene and formaldehyde.

Paul Cézanne
Paul Cézanne ( US pron.: / s eɪ ˈ z æ n / or UK / s ɨ ˈ z æ n / ; French: [pɔl sezan] ; 1839–1906) was a French artist and Post-Impressionist painter whose work laid the foundations of the transition from the 19th-century conception of artistic endeavour to a new and radically different world of art in the 20th century. Cézanne can be said to form the bridge between late 19th-century Impressionism and the early 20th century's new line of artistic enquiry, Cubism . Both Matisse and Picasso are said to have remarked that Cézanne "is the father of us all." Cézanne's often repetitive, exploratory brushstrokes are highly characteristic and clearly recognizable. He used planes of colour and small brushstrokes that build up to form complex fields. The paintings convey Cézanne's intense study of his subjects.

Caliphate
A caliphate (from the Arabic خلافة or khilāfa, Turkish : Hilafet ) is an Islamic state led by a supreme religious as well as political leader known as a caliph (meaning literally a successor , i.e. a successor to the prophet Muhammad ). The term caliphate is often applied to successions of Muslim empires that have existed in the Middle East and Southwest Asia . Conceptually the caliphate represents the political unity of the entire community of Muslim faithful (the ummah ) ruled by a single caliph. In theory, the organization of a caliphate should be a constitutional theocracy , (the Constitution being the Constitution of Medina ), which means that the head of state , the Caliph , and other officials are representatives of the people and of Islam and must govern according to constitutional and religious law , or Sharia . In its early days, the first caliphate resembled elements of direct democracy (see shura ) and an elective monarchy . [ 1 ]
