Energy statistics. Climate change statistics. SN 6612 -English Housing Survey, 2008: Housing Stock Data. Housing stock modelling service. The BRE housing stock modelling service (HSMS) provides local authorities with estimates for key housing and energy variables at dwelling level which can be aggregated to census output area, ward and authority level.
The estimates are calculated from statistical models which use a combination of top down and bottom up modelling. Inputs to the models include a national dwelling level database of dwelling descriptors as well as published information from the English Housing Survey (EHS). As well as the dwelling level data the HSMS can provide maps and summary tabulations usually within the context of a report and makes recommendations on how to use the information in development of a housing strategy.
This information can be used as a baseline but is particularly valuable in targeting areas for detailed surveys of housing problems. For authorities who already have completed surveys and have good quality data the HSMS provides a level of detail which surveys alone cannot achieve.
