Teen's "White Boy Privilege" slam poetry goes viral. The video of the 14-year-old student's slam poem at his school has gone viral in the midst of heated national discussions regarding race and privilege. Performed at a slam poetry competition in May at The Paideia School in Atlanta, Royce Mann's winning poem offers a reflection on the privilege he feels he has been automatically awarded as a result of his being white and male. His piece begins with a lamentation: "Dear women, I'm sorry. Dear black people, I'm sorry. Dear Asian-Americans, dear Native Americans, dear immigrants who came here seeking a better life, I'm sorry.

Dear everyone who isn't a middle or upper-class white boy, I'm sorry. I have started life on the top of the ladder while you were born on the first rung. " As Royce continues, he acknowledges the barriers that those of other genders, races and classes must confront that he is fortunate enough to avoid: "Because of my race, I can eat at a fancy restaurant without the wait staff expecting me to steal the silverware. Student who stole, shared naked photos of teacher charged. The South Carolina student who allegedly took his teacher’s cell phone and shared naked pictures of her with classmates was charged on Friday. The 16-year-old, whose teacher Leigh Anne Arthur was forced to resign as a result of the ordeal, is facing computer crimes and aggravated voyeurism counts, according to WSPA-TV. The aggravated voyeurism charge comes from the boy allegedly copying and sharing Arthur’s pictures, while the computer crime is in connection with him gaining access to her cell phone without permission.

Arthur’s student gloated about the incident before the photo was spread. “The student who actually took my phone and took pictures turned around and told me your day of reckoning is coming,” Arthur said. He has been detained at the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia, S.C. A forensic investigation by SLED on the juvenile’s phone showed that Arthur’s photos were in a password-locked file. From Arthur’s point of view, the bigger issue revolves around her personal privacy. Pennsylvania Becomes 24th State To Legalize Medical Marijuana Program.

New U.K. Trailer For 'The Adderall Diaries' Starri. By Kevin Jagernauth | The Playlist March 4, 2016 at 8:25AM 00000153-41c0-d265-a353-4de6f7120000 "The Adderall Diaries" Yes, it's James Franco Movie #9564—B. The prolific actor/writer/director/producer/artist seems to have a new project dropping every other week, so all is forgiven if you forgot about his starring role in "The Adderall Diaries.

" The film made its debut at the Tribeca Film Festival last year, and not much has been heard since, but now it's getting ready to head out in the world and U.K. trailer has dropped. Titled "True Deception" abroad (which seems weird, given Franco recently starred in a movie called "True Story"), the Pamela Romanowsky directed adaptation of Stephen Elliott's memoir tracks the story of the author through his bruising childhood and beyond. We called the picture "a workable portrait of pain and addiction, one that’s bizarrely entertaining even in its most brutal moments" in our review from Tribeca, so it's one worth investigating. Ex-Tower Hill headmaster's child porn conviction overturned. The Delaware Supreme Court has overturned a child pornography conviction that would have placed Christopher Wheeler, former headmaster of Tower Hill School, behind bars for 50 years. 3/3/16 Damian Giletto/The News Journal State Supreme Court says search warrants obtained by police were unconstitutionally broad The Delaware Supreme Court has overturned a child pornography conviction that would have placed Christopher Wheeler, former headmaster of Tower Hill School, behind bars for 50 years.

In a 44-page ruling Wednesday afternoon, Supreme Court Justice Karen L. Valihura wrote that the warrants used to search Wheeler’s school-owned home and office in Wilmington were unconstitutionally broad, even though Wheeler is an “unsympathetic figure” and “sexual exploitation of children is a dreadful scourge in our society.” “There is always a temptation in criminal cases to let the end justify the means, but as guardians of the Constitution, we must resist that temptation,” she wrote. High School Teacher Whose Sexy Photos Were Shared by Student Wants Job Back.

A South Carolina teacher is fighting to get her job back after a student took and shared partially nude photos of her from her phone without her knowledge, resulting in school officials’ pressuring her to resign, she said. Leigh Anne Arthur told ABC News that the photos were meant for her husband. She said when she briefly left the phone last month in her classroom at Union County High School in Union, South Carolina, a male student in her class looked through her device, found the photos and sent them to other students.

“You don't think about someone invading your privacy like that,” Arthur said. “Everybody that you look at you ask, 'Had they seen it'? Or, 'What exactly did they see? '" Arthur resigned from her teaching position Feb. 24, nearly a week after the incident and after what she describes as pressure from school officials. Arthur denies the school district's allegations. "I did not let students routinely use my phone," she told ABC News. In NC, Big Trouble for Teens Who Take Nude Pics. The teen who was put on probation after killing four people in a drunken- driving accident will now continue his probation through the adult court system, following a hearing in Texas this morning.

Ethan Couch allegedly violated the terms of his probation from the drunken-driving case by missing a court-mandated check-in before he and his mother were apprehended in Mexico in late-December. Couch had a hearing in juvenile court today and a judge transferred his case to the Tarrant County District Court, which handles adult cases, to complete his 10-year probation. The 18-year-old will remain in an adult jail in Fort Worth until his 19th birthday on April 11. He will then have another hearing when a district judge will set conditions for the remainder of his adult probation. If he violates probation as an adult, the possible penalty is higher than any probation violations as a juvenile. Get real-time updates as this story unfolds. Tennessee parents say there's "no place" for Gay-Straight Alliance in high school. WINCHESTER, Tenn. - A group of students at Franklin County High School in Tennessee wanted a safe environment to talk about issues affecting the gay community, especially bullying, so they started a club that invited people of all sexual orientations to do so. The Gay-Straight Alliance they formed can be found in several variations in high schools across America, but to many parents in the Franklin County Schools, they're no better than terrorists, according to CBS affiliate WTVF in Nashville.

At a school board meeting Monday night, resident Robert Widelick took to the microphone and said he doubted the groups agenda that he claims they're trying to impose on people who attend their meetings. "There's really no place for discussion of sexual orientation in a public high school," Widelick said. Dozens of supporters stood up, cheered and waved towels and signs after Widelick shared his opinion at the meeting. "It's a safe environment for students to get together and just talk," Lonas said.

Photo: Frank Starmer/Flickr Duke University suspended the activities of 10 sorority chapters Wednesday after a student was hospitalized Tuesday night due to an alcohol-related incident at a sorority event.

The unnamed student is in critical condition, according to an email sent Wednesday to the university’s Panhellenic Council by Clarybel Peguero, director of fraternity and sorority life at Duke, and Anya Ranganathan, president of the university’s Panhellenic Council. But a university statement issued Wednesday by Larry Moneta, vice president for student affairs, noted she is expected to “recover fully.” While Duke has 18 sorority chapters on campus, the suspension extends only to its 10 Panhellenic chapters, Keith Lawrence, executive director of news and communications for the university, tells USA TODAY College.

All Panhellenic chapters will remain under suspension while the university investigates the incident. This article comes from The USA TODAY College Contributor network.
