Archaeology & the Bible

“In every instance where the findings of archaeology pertain to the Biblical record, the archaeological evidence confirms, sometimes in detailed fashion, the historical accuracy of Scripture. In those instances where the archaeological findings seem to be at variance with the Bible, the discrepancy lies with the archaeological evidence, i.e., improper interpretation, lack of evidence, etc.—not with the Bible.” At Tell el-Dab'a, ancient Ramesses, the eastern delta of Egypt, evidence is being recovered that relates to the Sojourn and Exodus—Events in Israelite history largely written off as legend by today's critical scholars.

Desiring God

Year after year, as Christians walk through the Passion week with Jesus, our hearts are knit to him. He is our greatest hero, at the climax of his greatest feat. As we relive the story with him, we pull for him, and against his enemies. We feel varying levels of disdain for Judas who betrays him, Peter who denies him, the chief priests who despise him, Herod who mocks him, the people who call for his crucifixion, Pilate who appeases the mob and washes his hands, and Barabbas who is guilty but gets to go free. But wait. Barabbas — the guilty who goes free?
Bible History Bible History is about exploring the eyewitness accounts recorded in the Old and New Testaments of the Bible and comparing them with the history of ancient people and civilizations revealed by the spade of the archaeologist. Are you curious about the past, it's people, customs and culture? Then you would probably appreciate those who's curiosity drove them across the earth without the conveniences of modern travel, to dig up the empires buried within the earth to reveal the mysteries they contain.

29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Here is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! 30 This is the One I told you about: 'After me comes a man who has surpassed me, because He existed before me.' 31 I didn't know Him, but I came baptizing with water so He might be revealed to Israel." 32 And John testified, "I watched the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He rested on Him. 33 I didn't know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water told me, 'The One you see the Spirit descending and resting on-He is the One who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.' 39 "Come and you'll see," He replied. So they went and saw where He was staying, and they stayed with Him that day. http://www.youversion.com/
