31 Insanely Easy And Clever DIY Projects. We're Obsessed With This Easy DIY Artwork Project (& You'll Be, Too!) UPDATE: The long weekend is the perfect time to start some new projects, so why not try this awesome (and so easy) artwork DIY? This story was originally published on July 25. If there are two things that have been commanding our attention lately, they're cool artwork and chevron prints. So, we were obviously pretty stoked to find a way to incorporate both — for cheap! — in an amazing DIY project for your apartment. Inspired by the work of artist Nancy Ramirez, two stellar Refinery29 interns collaborated on this easy-does-it way to spice up an empty wall. There's no need to be intimidated — this project is doable for any level of DIY-er (it's actually supposed to look a little imperfect!).

All you need is a paintbrush, your fave colors of paint, a canvas, and some painter's tape. From the moment we spied this Nancy Ramirez painting on Pinterest, we were smitten. Assemble your paints and squeeze a quarter-size amount of each color onto your palette. Et voilà! Facebook. Exclusive: Letter lantern tutorial | Font Crafts. Want a quick and easy way to make your space look super hip in only a couple hours? I wish I could tell you that this was hard, but it was sooooo easy.

It just took the time to randomly stick vinyl letter type stickers in various sizes (I purchased mine at Michaels) to a plain white paper lantern. You could do this with really any kind of plain sticker. It would also be cool if you used all of the same color but then put in a sticker in another color (I’m thinking red) for an added pop of color. I know you’ve seen me do this same sticker look on other projects, but since I have so many extra vinyl stickers, I decided to whip up another project!

Besides, I never get tired of this graphic look! If it ain’t broke, why fix it? DIYable: top hat lighting. I have an obsession with top hats lately, you’ll see more evidence of this later. i love their structure but also their playfulness. these top hat pendant lights are rad! And so easy to DIY! A month ago I landed a full-time job (gotta pay the bills) along with a 3-hour round-trip commute. Ugh. It’s left little time for crafting. Not to worry, I’m still going to keep blogging, but it might be on an infrequent basis until I adjust to my new schedule. For now, it feels good to be back!

Inspired by the Cassiopeia chandelier. Anyway, these bamboo orb pendant lights were inspired by the Cassiopeia chandelier from Ironware International that I saw on the cover of the April 2011 issue of House Beautiful. So, I made my own version using bamboo strips instead of wrought iron and a single CFL bulb instead of five candelabras. Two more things: I found that fabulous shabby-chic trunk on the side of the road with a “free” sign taped to it! Tutorial and photos after the jump! Fun with Foam Printing - Easy Tutorial. I loved this idea because not only can you recycle these horrid polystyrene containers, but the process is really simple. You could even use tracing paper and trace your design so you don't even need to be able to draw. You could make a whole series of cards like this or just a colorful print to hang on your wall and cheer up the place. This is the quickest, cheapest, and most bare-bones method. you could go crazy with materials, but I can't personally justify spending tons of money on extra bottle caps. Total cost, if you factor in the glue used, comes to around 15 cents per magnet. not bad in my book. Here's the bare bones materials list: - bottle caps- sandpaper (I used 220 grit... the grit isn't critical)- hot glue gun- hot glue sticks- button magnets (1/2")- 1/4" hex nuts Notes on the magnets:sure, one could use heavy-duty neodymium magnets, but they cost significantly more and for my purposes, the simple ProMag Magnetic Buttons (available at local craft stores i.e.

Michael's, Hobby Lobby, etc. ) work well and come out to only a few cents per magnet. They sufficiently hold photos, postcards, papers, etc. And are soft enough that no damage could possibly be inflicted on fridge surfaces. Why Nuts? My Kitchen is Perfect.
