Het verleent inhoud en betekenis aan hun werk. De tentoonstelling biedt stof tot nadenken over hoe we in de (nabije) toekomst genoodzaakt zullen zijn om op fundamenteel andere manieren met elkaar en met onze natuurlijke bronnen om te gaan. De designers tonen hoe ze via hun designproces oplossingen bieden voor allerlei conflictvormen, van sociale conflicten tussen mensen onderling tot conflicten met de natuur, in de huidige economische situatie en in een ontwrichte samenleving. Dierlijke weefsels laten zich niet zo eenvoudig snijden. Het materiaal is te week en vervormt gemakkelijk. Bovendien mogen coupes (plakjes) ten hoogste 10 μm (1 μm = 1/1000 mm), maar liever nog minder, dik zijn willen ze geschikt zijn voor bestudering.
Zoals plantenweefsel celwanden bezit heeft dierlijk weefsel geen celwand, het is daarom niet contrastrijk. Kleuring van het preparaat zal daarom altijd nodig zijn. Om de vervalprocessen te stoppen zal dierlijk weefsel altijd moeten worden gefixeerd. De structuur van het weefsel blijft ongeveer gelijk, maar chemisch verandert er veel. Deze stof laat zich heel goed bewerken maar heeft een groot nadeel n.l. het is niet oplosbaar in water en bijna alle dierlijke weefsels bestaan voor een groot gedeelte uit water.
