http://net.tutsplus.com/tutorials/javascript-ajax/inettuts/ Twice a month, we revisit some of our readers’ favorite posts from throughout the history of Nettuts+. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to create a customizable interface with widgets. The finished product will be a sleek and unobtrusively coded iGoogle -like interface, which has plenty of potential applications! Please note that we will only be covering the front-end aspect of the project in this tutorial.

How to Mimic the iGoogle Interface - NETTUTS

MAKE: Blog: Surface scratch control input

The Scratch Input project explores an interesting very economical method for human-computer interface using a contact mic/stethoscope and a wall. table, or similar – We present Scratch Input, an acoustic-based input technique that relies on the unique sound produced when a fingernail is dragged over the surface of a textured material, such as wood, fabric, or wall paint. We employ a simple sensor that can be easily coupled with existing surfaces, such as walls and tables, turning them into large, unpowered and ad hoc finger input surfaces. http://blog.makezine.com/2008/11/17/surface-scratch-control-i/

How to Make a Cheap Multitouch Pad - Instructables - DIY, How To

A Multitouch Mini, MTmini for short, is a cheap, small, portable multitouch pad. It can be used for all different purposes including: drawing, OS navigation, multitouch operation, games, entertainment, experimentation, and more. I created the Multitouch Mini to show people how something that seems complicated or 'magical' can be made simply and at low cost. The MTmini uses the " Front Diffused Illumination " multitouch technique, with normal ambient light (infrared not required or needed) and a normal off-the-shelf webcam (IR filter can still be in place). The MTmini technique is the first step in creating a full multitouch display . When you place your fingers on the surface, shadows are created where your fingers are placed.
April 2, 2008 We're currently in the midst of building the new web property I alluded to in a previous post . Before I write a single line of code, I want to have a pretty clear idea of what the user interface will look like first . I'm in complete agreement with Rick Schaut here : When you're working on end-user software, and it doesn't matter if you're working on a web app, adding a feature to an existing application, or working on a plug-in for some other application, you need to design the UI first . This is hard for a couple of reasons. http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/archives/001091.html

http://www.welie.com/patterns/index.php Suggest a pattern Have you seen new examples of patterns out there that have not been described on this site? Send me a link to an example and I'll add it to my to-do list.
Please note that the content of these sets is not representative of all of the patterns I've captured. I tend to use tags more religiously and recommend that you look there for more patterns:
