More could soon join the entrepreneurial ranks — the survey found that 51 percent of Americans see good opportunities for starting businesses, the most optimistic reading in the annual GEM report’s 16 years. Lots of jobs could be created as a result of these startups. “The results show a high level of current activity accompanied with high optimism about the future,” said Donna Kelley, the GEM Report’s lead author and a professor of entrepreneurship at Babson College.
