4 Community Management Predictions for 2012. Community management, an industry still in its infancy, came a long way in 2011. Many businesses no longer ask "What does a community manager do, and do I need one? " but rather "What makes a great community manager, and when can I hire one? " The role is far from being standardized from organization to organization, and may never be. Yet today's digital trends will affect community managers in a variety of businesses. Some have already begun chipping away at them. While some aspects of the job may never change — constant multitasking, quick judgement calls, critical thinking — CMs have much on the horizon in 2012. 1. When SMO came on the scene, the technique didn't stray far from its big cousin, SEO. In 2012, timing will play a big role. Overwhelming audiences' social streams to the point of annoyance has always been a concern. 2.

Instagram has already helped pave the way for this by including four new user-created photo filters in its September 2.0 release. 3. 4. Think Quarterly. Q&A: Jeremiah Owyang on personal branding and his move to Altimeter. Jeremiah Owyang became something of a social media superstar while working as an analyst for Forrester. Covering social media for the research firm, he also opines on the topic on his personal blog, Web Strategist, which receives over 100,000 visits a month — more than the combined monthly views for Forrester's top competitors Gartner and IDC.

Owyang was one of many analysts to leave Forrester this year, and his departure added to the chatter that personal brands are starting to eclipse corporate brands in the tech space. With two of Forrester's other former star analysts — Charlene Li and Ray Wang — Owyang is now a partner at consulting firm Altimeter Group. I caught up with Owyang last week on the phone to talk about what he's up to at Altimeter and what research firms are going to have to do to retain top talent. What will you be doing at Altimeter? So you don't want to use the 'social' word anymore? You're very well known outside of your Forrester role. What about your personal brand? Social Media Guidelines. Wikipedia:Companies, corporations and economic information. Articles about companies in Wikipedia are generally fairly shallow. The aim of this Project is to enhance the depth of company descriptions, including the placement of their activities and product developments in context, thereby providing connections between things and their origins that we often forget or overlook.

In addition, this Project aims to provide guidelines for "standard minimum information" best included with each company-related article, which has manifested to date in the form of an infobox (see Template section below).
