There is a clear gap between the two but sooner or later someone will have to cross the line, so the only question is who will do it first. On the one hand its easier for programmers to learn the tools of design, while its harder for designers to learn programming. On the other hand design is not about using tools, it’s a whole way of thinking, being the tools just the last step to accomplish a project. I became a huge fan of generative art after I went to a presentation by Joshua Davis at Adobe Max. His presentation was on his new experimental work, titled “space”. It was a real treat to see how Joshua pushes himself and his work to the next level. He is by far a master in this area. After the workshop, I was really inspired to find as many resources as I could on creating generative art. I personally like the idea of generating art inside of Flash with some ActionScript.
