65 Cheap, Healthy, One-Dish Meals with Good Leftover Potential

This DOES NOT mean it was entirely prepared in one implement. (Though quite a few meals are, and those have a ** next to them.)The meal shouldn’t require additional side dishes, breads, rice, or other accompaniment. The meal had to be relatively balanced, meaning no all-vegetable, all-meat, or all-starch dishes, a la macaroni and cheese. Preparation and dishes had to be kept to a reasonable minimum. Chopping an onion, salting an eggplant, or sautéing a chicken breast was allowed. The list is by no means definitive, but it’s a nice start. Pizza Braid

My aunt and cousin first introduced me to them and I’ve been hooked ever since. The possibilities are endless of the varieties you could make (check out the Apple Dessert Braid!) , but the recipe below is for a very basic hamburger and pepperoni braid. You could make your own dough, but I prefer the shortcut of using Rhodes rise and bake dough. This is one of my favorite shortcuts to make a nice loaf of bread or use in recipes like this one. As I said, this is extremely basic. The dough takes a few hours to rise, so I take it out in the morning and place a towel over it. Yes, yes the dough in that photo has not risen fully. Then you spread out the sauce, lay the meats down, followed by the cheese. Then with a pizza cutter, start cutting about 1 inch thick strips down the whole rectangle. Follow the pictures above. A few minutes before it’s done I brush with olive oil and sprinkle with oregano.

Steak au Poivre - The Showstopper

To Amy: Removing to foil is simply a way to keep the steaks warm whilst resting (FOR 5 MINUTES AT LEAST… ALWAYYYS!). When the OP says remove to foil, he/she doesn’t mean to wrap them tightly. They mean to place them in a plate, and form a loose ‘covering’ of foil. This will simply trap some of the heat and allow it to remain warm, without trapping too much moisture. To the OP and to anyone else who decides to try ‘flambe’: It is important to note: When you add cognac or any other high proof liquour to a hot pan, then ignite, you are not burning the alcohol itself, per se. . - Never light alcohol while there is an open flame/heat source. . - Notice how in the OP, they remove the pan from the stove and then light. . - Keep a heavy lidded pan nearby, just in case things Do go awry (if you follow the first 2 tips, they won’t) - Always have at least an ABC rated fire extinguisher within arm’s reach.
