Padlet in Ed - Tech Tools Tour. The Newspaper Clipping Image Generator - Create your own fun newspaper. Using Fodey. Fun with Fodey. Fodey is a neat Web 2.0 tool that allows users to generate their own authentic newspaper clipping. Simply enter the name of a fictitious newspaper, date, headline, and story—and Fodey does the rest.
Besides being super easy to use, Fodey requires no log-in or registration. It also creates a pretty neat bulletin board worthy product! Check out the sample below from my Language Arts class. After reading and writing a Chapter 6 summary of Hatchet—a novel we are reading—students used the newspaper clipping gadget to share their work with classmates. Fodey does not have a text editor or a saving function; therefore, it is best to have students compose their stories in a word processing program, then copy and paste the info into web site once a final draft is complete.
In addition to the newspaper article generator, Fodey also provides other fun templates that students can use to present information for a specific audience. MentorMob: a VIP Version of your Internet MentorMob is a free site that allows you to browse content to use for lessons or professional development. You simply view playlists (a bunch of files/sites put together into one strand) or create your own playlists. At first, I just used the browse feature to see what other people were creating. Attach notes and track interruptions.
Export your data in a delimited text file for import into excel or other applications. If your job is anything like mine, co-workers can bombard you with requests and complaints at any time through any medium. I needed something simple, fast, but with the ability to go back later and add more details if I needed to. I also needed something to track how I spend my time, track interruptions and to help me get back on track when they happen, something that most similar apps lacked. I have geared this app to the way I work every day and it is still a work in progress.
Current features: -Quick entry, give a project a name and you are done, add a priority if you choose -Project editor, easily edit your project later and include as much detail as you want -Add general notes to any project and see them along with all the project details with a tap -Keep track of how much time you are spending on each project. Blubbr - Make Youtube Quizzes – EFL CLASSROOM 2.0. I've followed with anticipation each time over the years - a new website allowing teachers to make comprehension quizzes for Youtube videos. As the director of Education at EnglishCentral, this is interesting to me because EnglishCentral is working on similar functionality. There is a long list of sites doing this, going back to ESL Video and Mystudio (now Quiz Revolution) and more recently TED ED Each has/had their own strengths and weaknesses but none of them I ever felt had what it takes to really get this user generated application to be the "full monty" and extremely useable widely by teachers. Now we have a new contender Blubbr (hat tip to Maria Constantinides for letting me know about this). View the quiz I created HERE. I was able to make the 5 question quiz fairly easily but ran into some difficulty with dragging the buttons at the bottom and figuring out how that works.
Make Your Images Interactive - ThingLink. ThingLink - Upload, Tag & Share. 65+ Ways to Use ThingLink In Your Classroom. Mural.ly - Google Docs for Visual People. Day 4 - Mural.ly. For today's challenge I would like to share a Web 2.0 tool called Mural.ly. Mural.ly was created originally as a space for collaborating on the design for game development. But as you begin to use it, you will find that it is a great environment to collaborate visually and present visual information in a simple way.
Mural.ly provides a large workspace where you can design and create using traditional documents like Word, Excel, and Powerpoint or using media like YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, and Twitter. In addition to a flexible workspace, you have the ability to invite collaborators to your project. A collaborative workspace allows others to add content, chat, comment, and edit the workspace. Your Challenge: Take a few minutes to watch the videos below. Getting Started with Mural.ly. Create Amazing Things On the Web with Mural.ly. One of the things that I absolutely love about the web is that it’s a place where people can start to collaborate on projects and other things.
As the web improves so does creating projects and collaborating on them, which opens up more possibilities for great things to happen. What is so great is that web apps are starting to replace desktop apps and are actually on par with them as far as features, and throw in social features and they’re even better than desktop apps could be. Take for example a web app called Mural.ly, which gives the user a plain canvas on the web that they can use to their liking and then share it with others to collaborate on.
What makes this so attractive is the fact that you can use Mural.ly for a wide variety of tasks and it can be used by just about anyone that needs a space to share things and get feedback.
