Creating a learning plan using activity recommendations | role-showcase.eu

Creating a learning plan using activity recommendations bundle consists of “Activity Recommender” and “To-Learn list” widgets. The bundle guides the learner through the learning process by recommending learning activities and assists him or her to create a learning plan. The Activity Recommender widget is focusing on how to process a given task.
http://www.role-showcase.eu/widget-bundle/moodle-recommenders-educational-resources Related OU resources widget This widget displays a list of Open University (OU) resources related to a Moodle course. These resources consist of OU courses, iTunes U podcasts, as well as OpenLearn tags related to the course that the user is currently viewing. In order to provide these recommendations, the widget sends a query to data.open.ac.uk , which is an RDF repository of metadata from OU datasets. As data.open.ac.uk is constantly growing by integrating metadata from more repositories, the widget will also be extended with recommendations about educational resources of additional types. This project, funded by the national Learning Futures programme in 2010-2011, tuned a blogging tool to scaffold authentic enquiry-based learning. That initial project ended in Sept 2011 with the release of the software. Run jointly by the Open University’s Knowledge Media Institute, and University of Bristol’s Centre for Systems Learning & Leadership, EnquiryBlogger provides a set of plugins which extend one of the world’s most popular, robust, open source blogging platforms, WordPress (Multisite edition, enabling admin of many child blogs under a parent blog). It can be further extended through the use of concept mapping/argument visualization tools such as Compendium and Cohere , to support the mapping/connecting/questioning activities one hopes to see in authentic enquiry. This presentation introduces the concept. http://learningemergence.net/tools/enquiryblogger/

Public LMS Evaluations | Mark Smithers

Many universities are currently, or have recently, reviewed their enterprise LMS including my own employer. Unfortunately we haven’t made our review process public but many universities have been generous enough to provide information about their reviews. The following list are some of the publicly available LMS reviews that I have found. These were really useful in developing and informing our own review and I hope that by bringing them together in one place it will be useful for others. http://www.masmithers.com/2009/09/20/public-lms-evaluations/
