Solve Your Problems and Set Yourself Free with Perceptual Language. “Use what language you will, you can never say anything but what you are.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson Imagine using a new language that prevents you from blaming others, being reactive, manipulating, fearing anything in the outside world, needing social approval, being offended by others, and being controlled or controlling others. Imagine that these problems were simply eliminated from your life because your new language makes them impossible. Welcome to Perceptual Language. Refined by Jake and Hannah Eagle of Green Psychology, Perceptual Language represents a major development in psychology, perhaps the greatest breakthrough since the days of Freud. When you learn Perceptual Language, you engage your tongue and your brain toward a new level of enlightenment. Here is a brief overview of how it works.

Principle #1: There is no out there out there. Perceptual Language honors the principle that we don’t respond to “the world out there.” Perceptual Language in practice: This becomes: 7 Harsh Truths That Will Improve Your Life. Truth hurts, but someone has to say it. Your life is what you make of it and the only person who can help you is yourself. If you’re ready to take personal responsibility and improve your life, I invite you to apply these seven harsh truths today. 1. No One Is Going to Fix You If you are waiting for a knight in shining armor to gallop into your life and heal your broken heart, you will be waiting forever. 2. If you are waiting for the “right” time to do something — pursue self-employment, begin a fitness plan, dive into the dating pool, or move to a new town — you’re going to be waiting forever. 3.

If you attempt to achieve an ambitious new goal, then it is possible that you will fall on your face while pursuing said goal. 4. Have you ever made a mistake so monumental that you wish you could go back in time and do it all over again? 5. Steve Jobs said it best, so I’m going to defer to him for this harsh truth: 6. 7. Talk to us I know truth hurts, but someone had to say it.

7 Harsh Truths That Will Improve Your Life. Essential Items for a First Aid Kit (for Home or Car) If you’re a human being who’s reading this right now and not an android or other artificial life form, chances are that you’re going to get hurt at some point in the not-too-distant future. No, that’s not a threat, but rather a prediction based on the number of people out there who manage to hurt themselves on a daily basis.

In fact, as I just finished writing that second sentence, my husband bellowed up from the kitchen to tell me that he’d sliced his hand open on the aluminum foil wrapper on a Toblerone bar. Case in point. To deal with the various cuts, scrapes, burns, insect bites, rashes, grazes, abrasions, blisters, and other miscellaneous boo-boos that you and your family members might acquire, it’s a good idea to have a solid first aid kit in both your house, and your car. If you don’t have a car, then a miniature version strapped to your bike or kept in your handbag/backpack/manly courier bag can be amazingly handy too.

Disposable Sterile Gloves A Flashlight and Extra Batteries. Quarterly: A Box of Surprises In the Mail. Want to receive fun surprises in the mail … four times a year? I thought so. Quarterly is a new subscription service that offers a surprise package each quarter from interesting people. I’m not sure why they thought I was an interesting person, but I liked the idea of sharing some of my favorite things with you—so a few months ago, we sent out a package to an initial group of recipients. The deadline for the next mailing is very soon. If you’d like to get in on the fun, sign up before the end of Monday, August 12. I don’t want to ruin the surprise of what’s going out next week, so to give you an idea, I’ll show you what came in the first box a few months ago.

How awesome is this map? It comes packaged in this lovely tube for easy storage and shipping. I love planes and I love mail, so this postcard combines two awesome things. I carry a notebook and a pen everywhere I go. Of course, I’ll probably lose mine in an airline lounge long before seven years comes around, but that’s another story. — Fungi & Mushrooms Walks, Mushroom Forays, Fungi Forays, Fungi Beginners Workshops, Mushroom Courses, Education and Mushroom Foraging. Welcome | Flesh & Buns. Kirazu | 47 Rupert Street W1D 7PF. Time Out says Posted: Fri Jul 26 2013 There’s no sign above the door, no flashy exterior. Just an A-board advertising ‘Japanese Tapas and Ramen’. Kirazu may be paces away from Spuntino – one of Soho’s trendiest ‘hidden’ diners – but it’s easy to walk past Kirazu without a second glance. Don’t. You won’t find anything else in London quite like it. Despite the understated exterior, Kirazu’s ad-hoc interior wouldn’t be out of place in a hip Hackney eatery.

Chef Yuya Kikuchi smiles as he turns out skilful yet pared-down small plates from behind his chunky wooden counter stacked with crockery, squeezy bottles of sauces, a blowtorch, and the other accoutrements of his craft. Much of Kikuchi’s menu is themed around obanzai – a traditional home-cooking style from Japan – and he believes his restaurant is the only one to serve it in Europe. It’s not all obanzai though. Shake Shack Comes to London | Street Feast. So unless you’ve been under a rock the last month (or just not on Twitter) then you of course know that the famous American burger chain Shake Shack is opening in London tomorrow (July 5th).

This is their first European restaurant and it opens up in the heart of Covent Garden. Luckily for me i’ve been a bit like Charlie with his golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory this week as I managed to get invited to two preview events before they open their doors. The second event, held last night was a joint event with Burger Monday and was a bit of a party with the food being brought out almost non-stop.

Suffice to say by the end of the night I was absolutely stuffed, and incredibly happy. Until the first preview i’d never had a Shake Shack experience, sadly they hadn’t opened when I last visited New York. Anyway, fast forward a few years and Shake Shack have arrived on British shores. And the quality of their non-burger menu stretches to their drinks as well. Sonny Bryan's Smokehouse | Dallas Fort Worth BBQ | Barbeque Catering. Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2013 Designed by Sou Fujimoto Until 20 October 2013. The visionary Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto designed the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2013. 'It is a really fundamental question how architecture is different from nature, or how architecture could be part of nature, or how they could be merged... what are the boundaries between nature and artificial things' - Sou Fujimoto At 41, Fujimoto was the youngest architect to accept the invitation to create a temporary structure for the Serpentine Gallery.

The Pavilion was constructed from 20mm white steel poles in an intricate latticework pattern that seemed to rise up out of the ground like a shimmering matrix. The Pavilion was intended as a free-flowing social space that Fujimoto described as “a transparent terrain”. Describing his design concept, Sou Fujimoto said: "For the 2013 Pavilion I propose an architectural landscape: a transparent terrain that encourages people to interact with and explore the site in diverse ways. Jonjos. El Bulli exhibition. ElBulli: Ferran Adrià and The Art of Food.

In partnership with Estrella Damm and with the collaboration of Generalitat de Catalunya and Institut Ramon Llull 5 July–29 September 2013 This summer, Somerset House hosted a major retrospective exhibition on a global icon of gastronomy, Ferran Adrià, and the restaurant he built to become the world’s best, elBulli. In partnership with Estrella Damm, elBulli: Ferran Adrià and The Art of Food was the world’s first exhibition dedicated to a chef and his restaurant. The retrospective showcased the art of cuisine and cuisine as art by taking a behind-the-scenes look at the legendary laboratory and kitchen of the internationally renowned restaurant, which delighted diners in Cala Montjoi, a small picturesque bay on the Catalan coast near Roses, for over 50 years. Adrià said of the Somerset House show: “Even though the restaurant of elBulli is now closed, the spirit of elBulli is still very much alive and this exhibition is one of the ways of keeping it so. A Minimalist’s Thoughts On Diet.

I no longer catch the common cold. Yes, that’s right: I don’t get sick anymore. Ever. I didn’t get sick even after hugging 2,000 people during our 33-city meetup tour, many of who were themselves sick and didn’t want to hug me for fear of “getting me sick.” I hugged them anyway, because I don’t believe in “catching the common cold.” I no longer maintain the environment for the common cold to live in my body.

So you don’t ever get sick, Joshua? Nope. Never? No, not at all. I bet that’s a strange thing to read, right? It’s been two years since my last cold. There is, however, one subtle change I haven’t talked about much: my gradually changing diet. Today, my diet is markedly different, and I’ve never felt more alive. Food. Avoid. Intermittent Fasting. Water, Liquids, and Juice. Supplements. Exercise. Sleep. Stress. Most important, after changing my diet and embracing a healthier lifestyle, I feel amazing.

But Joshua, your diet sounds so boring and unentertaining! Languages. Why you really should keep a journal, no matter how cheesy that sounds | News. If you've spent any significant time reading books or articles on the "science of happiness", you'll have encountered what I've long thought of as the Cheesiness Problem. It's an inescapable fact that some of the most thoroughly evidence-backed techniques for enhancing one's mood are also the most excruciatingly embarrassing – the sorts of things that those of us who imagine ourselves to be rational, sceptical types would never dream of confessing to. This is awkward, since (as I've written before) it means having to choose between maintaining a pose of sardonic detachment or doing what actually works.

For me, the most vivid example is keeping a gratitude journal. On the one hand, it really helps. On the other hand – well, come on. It's keeping a gratitude journal. Anyway, this problem just got worse. Researchers led by Elizabeth Broadbent, a senior lecturer in health psychology at the University of Auckland in New Zealand, studied 49 healthy senior citizens, aged 64 to 97. Tips for Keeping a Gratitude Journal. Psychology researchers aren’t necessarily Thanksgiving experts—they may not know how to make fluffy stuffing, say, or beat the traffic to your in-laws’ house—but they have become a fount of wisdom on thanksgiving (with a small “t”).

Over the past decade, they’ve not only identified the great social, psychological, and physical health benefits that come from giving thanks; they’ve zeroed in on some concrete practices that help us reap those benefits. And perhaps the most popular practice is to keep a “gratitude journal.” As we’ve reported many times over the years, studies have traced a range of impressive benefits to the simple act of writing down the things for which we’re grateful—benefits including better sleep, fewer symptoms of illness, and more happiness among adults and kids alike. We’ve even launched our own digital gratitude journal, Thnx4.org, here on Greater Good. The basic practice is straightforward. “If you do not tell the truth about yourself you cannot tell it about other people.” ~Virginia Woolf If you’ve ever listened to someone’s description or opinion of you and it sounded completely alien, you probably found yourself wondering where on earth they were coming from. We are told that on a universal, spiritual level, the way you perceive someone is more than just an opinion; it’s actually a reflection of you being projected onto that person. So if someone tells you that you’re beautiful, kind, or have a good heart, they can only do so because those qualities are present within them. Conversely, if you see someone as dishonest, unkind, or manipulative, that’s because you, yourself, are projecting those parts of you onto the other person. When I was going through the depths of healing from adultery and my marriage break-up, I recalled a lot of things my ex-husband told me about myself—some of which I accepted; a lot of which I did not. 1. 2. 3.
