∆DIY∆ Chanel Cut Out Gloves. My Sweet Things » Mod Podge. A few summers ago we had our back deck replaced and that left us with plenty of 2×4′s hanging out in the basement. For those that are unfamiliar with the term, a 2×4 is a common size of dimensional lumber. My dad is a builder of all things and I am very familiar with these boards as I would hold them while he sawed away. I had never thought outside the building box until I came across a blog post from How Does She? A 2×4 was used to create a wonderful birthday board! The Birthday Board set up for my son’s birthday party.

Mod Podge, craft paper, floral wire, a foam brush and the star of the show…The 2×4! After I cut the 2×4 to the length I wanted, I measured out the spaces to drill the holes for the floral wire. Here you can see the floral wire and the drill bit I used. After all the holes were drilled, I lightly sanded the board to smooth out the drill holes. After the board was dry, I measured out the length of craft paper I was using to decorate the board with. N & A Engagement Board! Mod Podged Light Switch Cover.

I love Country Living Magazine and the ideas I get from perusing through the pages of the magazine. It seems like there’s something I want on every page. I found these, and fell in love, but couldn’t pay $16 each. Especially if I wanted one for every room of my house. So what’s a girl to do? I applied the mod podge to the cover and centered the patterned paper where I wanted it on the cover. It was at this point when I realized this was going to be a little harder than I thought because of the curved edges. I cut off the excess paper on the sides, applied the mod podge and wrapped it around again. I folded the corners like if I were wrapping a present to get them to lay flat.

To cut out the hole for the switch I used these tools that are actually for ceramics, but they worked. Then I applied 2 coats of mod podge. Wait for it to dry and then put it back over the switch. I really like it. I’m linking to: Show and Tell Friday at My Romantic Home Victory of the Week at Design-aholic. {office} Light Switch Plate Revamp. Make It and Love It: Light Switch Cover. A while back i showed you i’d made a little clip-in pen case that fitted my filofax ‘personal’ sized organizer. i love my organizer and its near perfect but with just one pen holder how was i to live?! I need a bunch of different colored pens on hand to er, color code my tasks. after i posted the pic of the original pen case i had lots of nice comments and tweets etc asking me if i’d share a pattern, and after road testing the original pencase for a few months i had a few modifications in mind. as you can see i just had to scan some of the fabric and print out a little matching cover for my notepad: the new design is way better than the original. it might be made from a pretty vintage bed sheet, but its made to last and fits the organizer perfectly. as well as that it now features a pocket on the back that can hold random loose papers or a little notepad!

Homemade Play Dough — Colourful Palate. Homemade Play Dough This week has been very special because my sister and her family have been visiting. Intro There’s nothing better than taking something that’s old, haggard and about to end up in the garbage and making it new and exciting all over again. Especially if the project involves crayons! The other day my boys and I were feeling a little crafty. I have also been feeling a little bit of the nesting bug so was thrilled when we came up with a project that would not only yield a delightful craft but also help momma by cleaning out the scraggly crayon box.

That’s what I call a win-win situation. My four and two year old eagerly helped me pick out the broken crayons. They stood up at the counter and watched as I chopped up the crayons into little pieces. Don’t be alarmed if they look like one uniform color. I carefully removed the crayons from the oven and set it to cool. Out popped our new crayons!

Confession time – I have a weakness for new crayons so really I don’t know who’s more excited about this project me or the boys. Inspired by Martha Stewart Kids Magazine. Crayon Shaving Art. Intro I have three children – still getting used to that. Of course I love them all so dearly but I love them differently. Each child is an individual, different from one another, interpreting and interacting with the world uniquely. Baron is creative. To love Baron is to spend one-on-one time with him. Roman is active. To love Roman is to wrestle with him. Sister baby Ivy is the princess of the house. To love Ivy is to give her attention. During this Valentine season I am reminded to love each one of my children as the individual they are.

For a special time together Baron and I made some “stained glass hearts”. We taped ours onto thread and hung them in the window to allow the sunlight to pour through them. As we sharpened, ironed, cut and hung his face was beaming and his heart was full. The more I choose to effectively love my children as individuals the deeper my love and understanding for who they are grows.
