YOUCAT.org - Home. A Question of Ethical Relativism? It was a quiet yet serene weekend and I heard on EWTN about a movie made in 1966 based on a play by Robert Bolt, "A Man For All Seasons". What was fascinating is that this Oscar winning film indicated that Sir Thomas More refused to compromise with the demand of King Henry VIII who wanted a divorce and married Anne Boleyn.
He was tried for treason and executed by the King Henry who made himself the Supreme Head of the Church of England. Besides his six marriages, Henry VIII was known for his role in the separation of the Church of England from the Roman Catholic Church. More describes an important conversation about conscience which he had with King Henry and to which he alludes in his last, brief statement, “I die the king’s good servant and God’s first”: Such great martyrdom gives hope to mankind that moral conscience and religious freedom should prevail and not ethical relativism which seemed strongly preferred in the eyes of the world.
St. Definition of ethical relativism. Advent. (Latin ad-venio , to come to). According to present [1907] usage, Advent is a period beginning with the Sunday nearest to the feast of St. Andrew the Apostle (30 November) and embracing four Sundays . The first Sunday may be as early as 27 November, and then Advent has twenty-eight days, or as late as 3 December, giving the season only twenty-one days. With Advent the ecclesiastical year begins in the Western churches . During this time the faithful are admonished to prepare themselves worthily to celebrate the anniversary of the Lord's coming into the world as the incarnate God of love , thus to make their souls fitting abodes for the Redeemer coming in Holy Communion and through grace , and thereby to make themselves ready for His final coming as judge , at death and at the end of the world .

Who or what are the Holy Souls? Perhaps we need to define what is the soul first. The soul is the primary principle of life.
In plants it is a vegetative life principle and in animals a sensitive life principle. But the far superior human soul is rational, spiritual, and immortal. Souls in Purgatory, or the Holy Souls, are the souls of those who have died in the state of grace but who are not yet free from all punishment due to their unforgiven venial sins and all other sins already forgiven (for which satisfaction is still to be made). Prayers to St. Rita. Saint Pio. The Divine Mercy Message from the Marians of the Immaculate Conception. The message of The Divine Mercy is simple. It is that God loves us — all of us. And, he wants us to recognize that His mercy is greater than our sins, so that we will call upon Him with trust, receive His mercy, and let it flow through us to others. Thus, all will come to share His joy. The Divine Mercy message is one we can call to mind simply by remembering ABC: A - Ask for His Mercy.
God wants us to approach Him in prayer constantly, repenting of our sins and asking Him to pour His mercy out upon us and upon the whole world. B - Be merciful. C - Completely trust in Jesus. This message and devotion to Jesus as The Divine Mercy is based on the writings of Saint Faustina Kowalska, an uneducated Polish nun who, in obedience to her spiritual director, wrote a diary of about 600 pages recording the revelations she received about God's mercy.
Spend time to learn more about the mercy of God, learn to trust in Jesus, and live your life as merciful to others, as Christ is merciful to you. The Holy See.
